The use of these substances can cause various diseases and increase mortality. Objectives: The aim of this qualitative study was to explain the reasons for using smokeless tobacco based on the grounded theory approach. Patients and Methods: We conducted a qualitative study using the grounded theory approach in 2020 - 2021. Participants were adult users of smokeless tobacco in Chabahar city, southeast Iran. The strategy for choosing participants was based on purposeful sampling and continued till theoretical saturation was achieved. Thirty adults who were smokeless tobacco users participated in the interviews voluntarily. We used techniques such as asking questions, constant comparisons, and writing memos to collect data, which were analyzed based on the grounded theory presented by Corbin and Strauss in 2008. Results: Two themes emerged from data analysis (the context of consumption and the need for effec...

Methods: In this cross-sectional analytical study, 60 workers who were exposed to harmful noise were selected among factory shifts by randomized sampling method. The questionnaire included 6 demographic questions, 8 knowledge questions, 20 perceptions questions, 2 behavior questions, and 7 improvement questions. The questionnaire validity confirmed using content validity and its reliability was checked using test-retest & Cronbach's alpha. Data were analyzed through SPSS v.15 software using descriptive statistics and analytical tests. Results: About 40.4 of the workers used the hearing protection device most of the time, and 44.4 used it usually. There were significant positive correlations between perceived vulnerability score with self-efficacy score (r=0.41, p=0.001), perceived respo...

The cluster sampling method was performed on the healthcare centers, and women were selected using simple random sampling. The data collection instrument included a researcher-made questionnaire, the reliability and validity of which were approved, and finally, data were analyzed using analytical tests in SPSS 22 and Stata14. Results: The mean (±standard deviation) of the women’s age was 34.33±8.2 years. A total of 57.8% of women had no hi...

This study aimed to determine the efficacy of a mobile phone-based text message intervention in adopting skin cancer preventive behaviors among a sample of seafarers in Genaveh port located in Bushehr province, Iran. Methods In this randomized controlled trial, 136 seafarers were randomly selected and assigned to the intervention (n = 68) or a control groups (n = 68). As a theoretical basis, we followed the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT) variables to develop the text messages. The data related to PMT variables and skin cancer preventive behaviors were collected through a questionnaire. Forty-five text messages were designed, pre-tested and sent to the seafarers’ phones in the intervention group in 45 days. Both groups were followed up 1 month after the intervention. Data collected in the two stages were analyzed using paired-samples t-test, ANCOVA, and Chi-square tests. Results Follow...

Implementing interventions in the field of breakfast consumption and subsequently evaluating them... more Implementing interventions in the field of breakfast consumption and subsequently evaluating them is an appropriate solution to promote healthy breakfast consumption and improve health status. The present study aims to systematically investigate the educational interventions in relation to breakfast consumption among students. In this study, the SID, IRANMEDEX, IRANDOC, ISI Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases were systematically searched for the period from January 2000 to March 2018. The selection criteria for final articles include having as their topics education and intervention relating to breakfast consumption among preschool and other school students as well as the availability of the full text of the articles. In general, 3742 articles were identified, out of which 17 articles—containing educational intervention relating to breakfast consumption among the students—were selected after removing duplicate articles and articles that did not meet the incl...
