Diverse linguistic features are analyzed in literary criticism to highlight how they are used differently by poets and writers from the way they are commonly used. Since the early 20 th century, due to the influence of formalistic critical practice, it has been the common pursuits of the critics to enquire how special uses of linguistic elements contribute to achieve the literariness in a text. Further, it is interesting to note that that from the mid-20 th century linguistic codes and conventions have been appropriated as the paradigm in a number of Language in India www.languageinindia.com
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, systemic, autoimmune inflammatory disorder that is charac... more Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, systemic, autoimmune inflammatory disorder that is characterized by joint inflammation, erosive properties and symmetric multiple joint involvement. Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is very rare to be affected in the early phase of the disease, thus posing diagnostic challenges for the rheumatologist. TMJ complaints are present in about more than 50% of patients of RA. TMJ is usually among the last joint to be involved and is associated with many clinical signs and symptoms of which pain is a major problem leading to inflammation, limited movements, swelling, joint stiffness, and muscle spasm. Here reported case is 64 years old male, ex-smoker, diagnosed case of diabetes mellitus for 7 years, hypertension for 2 years, came to hospital with the complains of pain in left jaw for 1 year. He had no history of other joint pain, morning stiffness or any deformities. The patient was diagnosed as a case of rheumatoid arthritis on the basis of inflammator...

The cost differences between circular and square column increase with the increase in gross area ... more The cost differences between circular and square column increase with the increase in gross area of concrete. The ratio of longitudinal steel area to gross concrete section is in the range from 0.01 to 0.08, according to BNBC/ACI Code. The common practice is to choose an arbitrary section and check that for bending and axial load with a reinforcement ratio around 2-3% but we don’t know whether it is economical or not. However, for a particular moment and load there is only one section which is economical, it means only for a certain percentage of reinforcement the section will be optimized. Since the cost of concrete and reinforcement are different which may increase or decrease independently, the percentage of reinforcement in the optimized section varies with the price ratio of steel to concrete. Analysing for the present cost ratio of steel and concrete, it is seen that a column section is optimized at 1 percent of reinforcement for low-rise to medium rise building. This is true ...

Centering on the sign systems of Charles Sanders Peirce, an American philosopher and Ferdinand De Saussure, a Swiss Linguist, Semiotics takes into account diverse areas and parallels those to the linguistic signification system. In the process, the scope and nature of the fields have been broadened deviating at times from the central notions of its origin. The current paper focuses on the purpose of its use, its functional procedures and on how it cuts across other disciplines.

Out-of-pocket expenditures of over 34 billion dollars per year in the US are an apparent testamen... more Out-of-pocket expenditures of over 34 billion dollars per year in the US are an apparent testament to a widely held belief that complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies have benefits that outweigh their costs. However, regardless of public opinion, there is often little more than anecdotal evidence on the health and economic implications of CAM therapies. The objectives of this study are to present an overview of economic evaluation and to expand upon a previous review to examine the current scope and quality of CAM economic evaluations. The data sources used were Medline, AMED, Alt-HealthWatch, and the Complementary and Alternative Medicine Citation Index; January 1999 to October 2004. Papers that reported original data on specific CAM therapies from any form of standard economic analysis were included. Full economic evaluations were subjected to two types of quality review. The first was a 35-item checklist for reporting quality, and the second was a set of four crit...
In this open, randomized and comparative study, the safety and efficacy of systemic intermittent ... more In this open, randomized and comparative study, the safety and efficacy of systemic intermittent itraconazole and terbinafine was examined in 30 patients with onychomycosis. The patient with positive mycological culture and also the patients with positive microscopy and negative culture were investigated. Patients were randomly assigned: 15 patients in each group received either 200mg itraconazole or 250 mg terbinafine twice daily during the first week of a 4 weeks cycle. The treatment duration was 16 weeks and was followed-up for 36 weeks. Both the treatment regimen showed significant reduction in onychomycosis affected areas after 8 weeks and maximum reduction was observed at the end of 36 weeks. At the end point of the follow-up period, the clinical cure rates (no residual deformity or with some deformity) were 86.7% in the itraconazole group and 100% in the terbinafine group. The mycological cure rates were 86.7% and 100% respectively. However, no statistically significant differences between the treatment groups were seen in clinical, mycological (P= 0.864) and severity assessment (P= 0.220). Nausea, abdominal cramp, headache, back pain and flu like syndrome are the adverse effects more frequently reported. At least one adverse effect was reported by 17 patients, of them 12 belonged to itraconazole group and 5 to terbinafine group and the difference was statistically significant (P= 0.027). The overall therapeutic effectiveness, safety and cost affectivity were in favor of Terbinafine pulse therapy.

They are extra axial tumors attached to dura and compress the underlying brain without invading it. Abnormalities of bone are frequently encountered in Meningiomas. Hyperostosis or endosotsis are certainly more common than destruction of bone. Aims and Objective: Aim of study was to observe the percentage of tumour cell invasion in to the hyperostosis part of intracranial meningiomas. Materials and methods: This is an observational analytic study. Sample size was 34. Place of study was department of Neurosurgery of Square Hospitals Ltd. All the patients with the histological diagnosis of meningioma were included in to this study. Result: Female patients were predominant. Highest number of patients was from 41 to 50 years age group. Convexity meningiomas were commonest (35%) followed by parasagittal meningiomas. According to histopathological subtype meningothelimatous was commonest (56%) followed by psammomatous. Abou...

Tensile strength (TS), tensile modulus (TM), and percentage elongation at break (Eb) of the composites were found to be 32 MPa, 740 MPa, and 16%, respectively. Then jute fabrics reinforced solid natural rubber (NR)-based composites (30% fiber by weight) were also fabricated and it was found that TS, TM, and Eb of the jute/NR composites were 14 MPa, 120 MPa, and 94%, respectively. The mechanical properties of jute/PP and jute/NR composites were compared. Six weeks of degradation of the composites were performed in aqueous medium and it was found that jute/NR composites lost much of its original strength and modulus compared to that of the jute/PP composites. Interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of the jute/PP and jute/NR systems was investigated by using the single fiber fragmentation tests. The IFSS of jute/PP and jute/NR systems appeared to be 2.16...
