Atmospheric pressure loading is known to generate noise in GPS vertical time series. Even weekly ... more Atmospheric pressure loading is known to generate noise in GPS vertical time series. Even weekly solutions of GPS determined vertical coordinates are correlated with atmospheric loading in more than 70% of the stations investigated. Atmospheric pressure loading effects are calculated for more than 80 worldwide IGS permanent GPS stations using the atmospheric surface pressure data given by the ECMWF on a grid of 1° by 1°. These loading effects are then compared to timeseries of height coordinates determined by different GPS processing centers. We found high correlations between the two time series, especially for inland stations. Results from the different processing centers lead to different results with respect to variance reduction. However, stat ions in Central and Southern Asia show high variance reductions, whereas nearly all coastal stations and island stations show a small augmentation in the variance, due to the small variances of the loading signal itself. Newspaper cartography is in that viewpoint considered to be an important graphic means of communication. It attracts the readers attention and gives an immediate impression of the news fact. To what extent the map readers perception corresponds to reality, is the leading question of this research. The impact of a newspaper map on the peoples world view is function of several factors, in particular the newspapers readership, the frequency of publishing, the maps location in the newspaper, the assigned space, the map type and the possible style arrangements. Also the broad reading public and the restricted reading time have to be taken into account. Maps found in newspapers are frequently surprising, innovative and aesthetic attractive. This study frames in the preliminary studies to investigate the possibilities of these types of data. In this framework experimental flights were organised by VITO (Flemish Institute for Technological Research) and OSTC (Federal Office for Scientific, Technical and Cultural Affairs) on 13 th of September 2002 with a Dornier 228 aircraft carrying the CASI/SWIR sensor, over different test sites in Belgium. The flights were done by NERC and VITO and framed in the STEREO-program of OSTC. This paper deals with the “Ghent test site” over a peri-urban area, and focuses on the 3D-geometry of these data. These hyperspectral data are characterised by relief-displacement and differences in relief. These displacements occur in a direction away from the centre of the image. Door de beschikbaarheid van de Belgische gebiedsdekkende kadastrale kaart en de topokaart NGI wordt naar een meerwaarde gezocht die op korte tijd een bruikbaar product zou kunnen opleveren. De beide producten worden geanalyseerd en er worden verbanden gezocht. Compatibiliteit wordt onderzocht en een protocol wordt uitgeschreven. Softwareonafhankelijke digitale structurering wordt uitgewerkt. Het onderzoek naar de technische haalbaarheid en de verkenning van de diverse afzetmarkten wordt bekeken. De eerste inspiratie komt daarbij uit de wereld van de ruimtelijke planning.
