ABSTRACT
Miscalculation of production may lead to a bad planning and management of a forestry company, however, it’s essential to use methodologies that might make possible get accurate
estimations concerning individual height and volume for trees with minimum effort, cost and time. In order to perform adequate treatment by means of equations, aiming to select the best hypsometric and volumetric option. In Inhamacari forest, 132 sample-trees were selected from a Pinus taeda L. population with 23 years old and an initial spacing of 2.5x2.5 meters in which 8 hypsometric and 14 volumetric models were used for adjustment of 70% of the entire population.
From the regression analysis using Minimum Square Method (MSM) all models expressed F value where at least one of the coefficient models haven’t presented considerable differences.
The Henricksen model presented the best estimation with reference to adjustment of hypsometric models, higher precision, higher R2aj.% (25.72%) and less Sxy% (9.56%). In the adjustment of volumetric models, the Naslund equation presented precise estimations with 95.45% of R2aj.% and 20.71% of Sxy%. The residue graphs showed a coherent distribution of dots in both sides of the zero line, demonstrating that there is homogeneity in the variation between real and estimated data. Both equations were considered valid to estimate total height and volume of the barkfaggot in the study area.
Keywords: Hypsometry; Volumetry; Linear Regression; Pinus taeda L.
