Meziane Lasfer
BackgroundHaving gained a BSc in Accounting and Finance, Meziane Lasfer won a scholarship towards a master’s degree and followed this up with Diploma in Accounting and Finance, MBA and PhD in Finance from the London School of Economics (LSE) and the University of Bath, UK. He started as a research fellow in November 1990 at City University Business School. He was soon promoted to a personal chair. He has directed the Cass Business School PhD and MSc Finance programmes, and he was Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Transfer. He was external examiner at London Business School, Cranfield School of Management, and now at the LSE and Birmingham Business School. He was previously visiting professor at HEC Paris, and University Paris Dauphine, and currently EDHEC Business School in Nice, and Catolica University in Lisbon. He is on the editorial board of a number of journals, and was an external consultant at the Financial Services Authority.His research interests include dividend policy, capital structure, taxation, asset sales, corporate governance, managerial ownership, pension fund investments, trading by insiders and institutions, and fundamentals of stock returns. He published in the Journal of Finance, Journal of Finance and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, Financial Management, European Financial Management, and National Tax Journal. Some of his research was reported in the press and was sponsored by the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF), the Finance Lease Association (FLA), Morley Asset Management, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Donaldsons and Land Securities-Trillium.
