Findings of this study may provide a model linking the interaction of anti-Ro/SSA and Alu retroelements with fundamental mechanisms of autoimmunity in SLE and other related diseases including Sjögren's syndrome. Records of 315 patients with oral lichen planus seen at four Oral Medicine practices treated for at least 2 weeks with steroids with and without the use of an antifungal regimen were retrospectively reviewed. The overall incidence of oral fungal infection in those treated with steroid therapy for oral lichen planus was 13.6%. There was no statistically significant difference in the rate of oral candidiasis development in those treated with an antifungal regimen versus those not treated prophylactically (14.3% versus 12.6%) (P=0.68). Despite the use of various regimens, none of the preventive antifungal strategies used in this study resulted in a significant difference in the rate of development ...

To date it has been applied to an area of over 70,000km2 across Europe. MOLAND's use as a tool for the assessment and forecasting of biodiversity is examined with Dublin city as a case study. It was found that, in its current form, the MOLAND model's use as a biodiversity assessment tool was limited. Several recommendations are made for improvements to its capability in this area.

The combined coverage of the QuikSCAT instrument and high retrievable wind range to 40 m s-1 or more in non-raining conditions has revolutionized the high seas warning and short-term forecast process at the NOAA Ocean Prediction Center (OPC). OPC forecasters routinely see the wind field

Particular emphasis will be placed on measurements below 5 eV, and in the case of the DCS experiments, both elastic and vibrational excitation cross sections will be presented. Where possible, comparison with other experimental and theoretical

To assess patient-reported utilization patterns of fentanyl transdermal system and oxycodone hydrochloride (HCl) controlled-release among patients with chronic nonmalignant pain and to compare these patterns to standard dose administration guidelines recommended in the manufacturers. prescribing information (PI). Cross-sectional, observational, multicenter study of English-speaking patients who were seeking chronic nonmalignant pain management from 6 outpatient pain clinics. The inclusion criteria for the study were (1) diagnosis of chronic nonmalignant pain, (2) prescription for and current use of either transdermal fentanyl or oxycodone HCl controlled-release, and (3) duration of use for either transdermal fentanyl or oxycodone HCl controlled-release of at least 6 weeks. Patients completed either an oxycodone HCl control...

The combinatorial process or combinatorial factory has a throughput on the order of 100–200 coatings per day and possesses all of the aspects of a conventional combinatorial process such as automated sample preparation, miniaturized samples configured in an array format, high throughput screening of the properties of interest, and computer software developed for data management, storage, and analysis. The combinatorial factory greatly enhanced the rate of organic clear coat development.

The results show that knowledge about BBTD is very limited even among a well-educated group of young adults. Overall 39% of the respondents had heard of BBTD whereas 87% had heard of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Thirty-two percent thought BBTD was a fictional (vs. "real" or "unsure") health problem, while 3% of the respondents thought SIDS was a fictional health problem. Knowledge about overall risk factors for oral disease was greater than that for BBTD. Further, these subjects report that if they believed that adopting a certain feeding practice would reduce the risk of tooth decay for their babies, they would be likely to adopt it. Men and women significantly differed on the age at which a child should first see a dentist (chi sq = 19.56, df = 5, P < 0.0...
