Generally these numerical techniques apply either time- or frequency-domain algorithms demanding high computational efforts and long-time processing. Moreover, the initially assumed geometrical configuration can strongly affect the numerical convergence efficiency. With reference to a meander antenna, this paper highlights the

The low phonon energy of germanium sulphide glasses makes them ideal candidates as host material for high-efficiency fibre amplifier devices. 1G4-3H5 spontaneous emission spectrum and 1G4 fluorescence lifetime were measured in selected Pr+3-doped glass compositions and a quantum efficiency of 60% was calculated. Input data for fibre amplifier numerical modelling were provided by the optical characterization of Pr+3-doped glass samples. Incoherent signal contribution to the signal amplification process, such as amplified spontaneous emission (ASE), is also considered in order to design high efficiency low noise fibre amplifiers. In the small-signal regime a pump-gain conversion efficiency equal to 0.65 dB/mW was calculated, pointing out the efficiency of the designed fibre amplifier to convert the optical pump power into available signal gain

The onset of laser oscillation is observed by simulating the active substance as having a negative frequency-dependent Lorentzian-shaped conductivity so including into Maxwell's equations an electric current density. The properties of the active two-dimensional photonic band gap structures are evaluated in

The applicator is made of an array of resonant longitudinal slots cut on a broad wall of a rectangular waveguide, and it is covered by a cylindrical lens made of Plexiglas with a permittivity of 2.53. The geometrical optics approach is used as initial approximation to establish the lens profile. It allows for the shaping of the slotted waveguide's radiation pattern into a desired output pattern in the transversal plane. Three-dimensional simulation results show that the applicator performance can be improved at 2.45 GHz by using a homogeneous dielectric lens.

In these paper we have proposed a modified version of multi-band multiple ring monopole antennas as an improvement of the fractal Sierpinski gasket and the circular disk monopole. The antenna was simulated and measured. As seen in the simulation and experimental measurement the results are in good agreement, and compared with a classical multiband multiple ring monopole antennas, shown a similar multiband behaviour for the low frequency and a little improvement of the property for the high frequency.

The designed antenna, named “rectenna”, is a golden rectangular spiral printed on a SiO2 layer with a ground plane on the back. Two configurations of spiral antennas were investigated in order to design a structure able to supply the maximum output current. An array configuration was proposed to improve the single antenna performance.
