Objetivo: Identificar las relaciones entre actividad fisica, calidad de vida y envejecimiento sat... more Objetivo: Identificar las relaciones entre actividad fisica, calidad de vida y envejecimiento satisfactorio entre mayores residentes en comunidades de Corea del Sur. Antecedentes: Con un numero creciente de mayores financi eramente estables y activos, se ha hecho imperativo comprender el envejecimiento satisfactorio para promover el bienestar en esta poblacion. Metodos: Los datos del cuestionario se recopilaron en centros de bienestar de mayores de agosto a noviembre de 2013. Los participantes eran adultos de 65 anos o mayores que vivian en areas urbanas. Se pidio a los participantes que completaran los cuestionarios autoadministrados que evaluaban actividad fisica, calidad de vida y envejecimiento satisfactorio. Los datos de 212 participantes se analizaron mediante estadistica descriptiva, t-tests independientes, ANOVA con test de Scheffe, minimos cuadrados ordinarios y modelos de regresion cuantil con STATA 12.0. Resultados: En el modelo de minimos cuadrados ordinarios, la asociacion entre actividad fisica y envejecimiento satisfactorio no fue estadisticamente significativa, mientras que la regresion de cuantil mostro asociaciones significativas dentro de los percentiles 75 y 90 de las puntuaciones de envejecimiento satisfactorio. La calidad de vida se asocio significativamente con el envejecimiento satisfactorio en el modelo de minimos cuadrados ordinarios y con la mediana y los percentiles 75.0 del envejecimiento satisfactorio en las regresiones cuantil. Conclusion: Los resultados sugieren que tanto la actividad fisica como la calidad de vida es tuvieron significativamente asociadas en parte con el envejecimiento satisfactorio entre mayores coreanos Implicaciones para la enfermeria y las politicas sanitarias: La actividad fisica y la calidad de vida desempenan un papel importante para mejorar el envejecimiento satisfactorio. El desarrollo de un programa de ejercicio efectivo destinado a mayores residentes en comunidades podria ser esencial para mantener su envejecimiento satisfactorio.

In 1996 the NewYork State Office of Mental Health issued a policy requiring all State-operated ps... more In 1996 the NewYork State Office of Mental Health issued a policy requiring all State-operated psychiatric facilities to develop and implement a proactive violence-prevention program based on guidelines issued by the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration. This presented an opportunity to evaluate the impact of the guidelines on worker health and safety. The authors report the findings of a mixed-method study to evaluate the feasibility and impact of a participatory intervention to prevent workplace violence. They describe the implementation of the intervention in 3 in-patient facilities, including an extensive worksite analysis, staff focus groups, and a baseline and post-intervention survey of changes in staff perception of the quality of the program's elements and physical assault following implementation of the program. The authors provide evidence for the feasibility and positive impact of a comprehensive violence-prevention program in the in-patient mental health...
