The term itself lacks proper theoretical definition and is used in many different ways especially in academic and industry. This paper reviews and explores various existing approaches to conceptualize and understand user experience better. It covers both theories from the academics as well as studies conducted by the industries. Industries seem to treat user experience as a conventional usability while academics are more dynamic in defining user experience. Thus, this paper is trying to provide a base in conceptualizing and understanding user experience by covering different topics related to user experience.

Thus, this study investigates the current practice of BCM and the contributing factors, namely organizations, people, process and technology to the failure of BCM implementation in Malaysia’s public service. The study was undertaken using questionnaires whereby 195 IT people participated in the study. The selected agencies are Frontline agencies and have implemented BCM.Findings showed that organization, people, process, and technology are significantly correlated with BCM failure in the Malaysian Public Sector.Th...

There has been significant growth in digitizing taste using electrical and thermal components to stimulate taste sensations where users need to lick devices or place a metal peripheral on their tongue. Such unnatural interaction appears undesirable motivating us to explore if taste experience could be stimulated by just viewing food visuals. This places considerable emphasis on understanding user association to food visuals and perceived food taste. Inability to understand their needs before-hand may result into a system with poor potentiality to trigger taste experience and not excite them to try the food they view on a digital platform. Using Design Thinking as an approach, we were able to identify user perceptions and expectations from food visuals as well as their desires on how images could trigger their interest to try the food. This paper presents the findings f...

Yet, its operationalization through the HCI design is still not extensively studied. It is postulated that the theory of Interaction Ritual and family ritual could serve as a lens for understanding of how interface design mediates such bonding in digital environment. As theories, they are specifically tailored to understanding interactions among people and technologies which further assist in conducting an interpretative analysis in producing mappings of interaction design concepts to bonding eliciting design features informed by earlier work. The model serves as a new foundation to inform appropriate design of future family connecting technology in pursuit of familial bonding. Â

Encapsulated within this effort is the focus on ontology development that will help facilitate the organization and retrieval of the knowledge. Ontologies surrounding cultural heritage domain are related to archives, museum and library information such as archaeology, artifacts, paintings, etc. The growth in number and size of ontologies indicates the well acceptance of its semantic enrichment in many emerging applications. Nowadays, there are many heritage information systems available for access. Among others is community-based e-museum designed to support the digital cultural heritage preservation. This work extends previous effort of developing the Traditional Malay Textile (TMT) Knowledge Model where the model is designed with the intention of auxiliary mapping with CIDOC CRM. Due to its internal constraints, the model needs to be transfor...

As we argue that supporting the praying needs will support the spiritual needs of the older adults, we proposed a technological aid for supporting the praying activity among elderly Muslims as a form of mediated practice. We present the description and design of our Smart Prayer Mat, a smart praying mat embedded with a textile-based sensor that prompts audible cues to alert elderly Muslims with cognitive impairment of the completion of ritual cycles (raka’ahs) while performing their prayer practices. This novel aid will shed new ligh...

Lack of guidelines to guide the software practitioners to adopt the HCD in software development process become the main concern in this study. Among the problems that faced by the organizations that have adopted HCD, including problem of managing the resources such as human, financial and infrastructure. Therefore, this study used a theoretical lens to get a better understanding of HCD integration form management perspective, namely operational, tactical (management) and strategy perspective in software development process. Furthermore, the HCDP model is employed in this study because it covers the HCD activities from the project planning stage to the implementation stage of the software development process and it emphasizes on the larger scope of human factors and require ...

In halal certification (HC), it is significant to identify the CCP in order to confirm any products or services are halal. As a form of quality assurance system, HC which consists of several control measures used to emphasize the CCP from the Islamic point-of-view. However, it is a complex system and there are issues that require some action of improvement. If not handled properly, the key HC process such as Halal Inspection (HI) can lead to the operational inefficiency of the system. Therefore, the existing inspection method needs to adapt to the current situation and its operation must be improved. This article attempts to highlight the CCP of HI by focusing on the inspection process for small and medium-sized food premises conducted in Malaysia. This exploratory research is carried out qualitatively throug...

Against the backdrop of technology evolution, research on human computer interaction (HCI) has begun to explore dimensions of human value derived from the aesthetics of interaction. This desire for beauty aligns to the Maslow's hierarchy of human needs
