Developing a strategy to improve the performance of the electrical energy of an electric vehicle (EV) requires an analysis of the model that describes it. EVs are complex mechatronic systems described by nonlinear models and, therefore, its study is not an easy task. It can improve the performance of a battery bank by creating new batteries that allow for greater storage or by developing a management energy system. This article shows the development of a power supply management system based on fuzzy logic for an electric vehicle, in order to minimize the total energy consumption and optimize the battery bank. The experimental result is shown using the fuzzy controller under standard operating conditions. An increase in battery performance and overall performance of energy consumption is shown. Speed signals acquired show improvements in some dynamic, such as overshoot, sett...

A robot operating in a hotel may need to deliver room service to a named room. In a hospital, it may need to deliver medication to a patient's room. The Building-Wide Intelligence Project at UT Austin has been developing a fleet of autonomous mobile robots, called BWIBots, which perform tasks in the computer science department. Tasks include guiding a person, delivering a message, or bringing an object to a location such as an office, lecture hall, or classroom. The process of constructing a map that a robot can use for navigation has been simplified by modern SLAM algorithms. The attachment of semantics to map data, however, remains a tedious manual process of labeling locations in otherwise automatically generated maps. This paper introduces a system called PRISM to automate a step in this process by enabling a robot to localize door signs – a semantic markup intended ...

The facility location problem assigns clients to facilities, paying a service cost for each assignment and a fixed cost for each opened facility. The optimal solution must find a balance between the service costs and the facilities used. The multi-level facility location problem is an important generalization that arises in such contexts as multi-level inventory hierarchies and network design. The optimal solution to this problem seeks a balance between the cost of routing demand via a facility of each level and the cost of installing the facilities used. We will present a number of techniques that make it possible to leverage the recent results for single-level problems to find good solutions for multi-level instances.

Accordingly, the objectives of this study were to investigate the influence of methodological factors on heterogeneity in NSSI prevalence estimates, explore changes over time, and estimate overall international NSSI prevalence. Results showed that methodological factors contributed over half (51.6%) of the heterogeneity in prevalence estimates, and, after adjusting for these factors, NSSI prevalence did not increase over time. Overall, pooled NSSI prevalence was 17.2% among adolescents, 13.4% among young adults, and 5.5% among adults. Clearly, development of standardized methodology in NSSI research is crucial if accurate estimates are desired.

These advances have brought on new branches and new fields of electronics that were previously unobtainable. New silicon materials and methodologies have created their own group of explosive technology areas, along with a subset of mathematical equations and graphs required to understand and design them into electronic systems. These newly amalgamated ICs are based upon the marriage of existing technologies, but applied and incorporated in such a radical new fashion that they give birth to a new breed of smaller, faster, inexpensive, and more versatile electronic components. Today we are in the process of experiencing the development of a new electronic component based on a marriage of technologies that is destined to revolutionize the analog electronics industry. This new component is the Field Programmable Analog Ar...
