Therefore, it is critical to investigate the importance of knowledge regarding its acquisition, use, and transfer across all departments of an organization. The main objective of this work was to evaluate how modern organizations from different business sectors manage and share their knowledge by following the knowledge management and transfer life cycles when developing their projects. Organizational surveys were performed to project managers working in project management within in multiple Portuguese industries (or with representation in Portugal) from multiple business sectors and holding different hierarchical positions. This fact justifies any effort to learn more about the phenomenon of the transfer of knowledge to subsidiaries in Mozambique. We studied three cases with activities in the industrial sector. The results obtained indicated that an efficient knowledge transfer from the source to the recipient depends on (1) the factors that determine the assimilation on the part of the subsidiary of the knowledge transferred to it from the MNE headquarters; (2) the subsidiary’s absorptive capacity for the improvement of its competitiveness within the framework of the inter-organizational cooperation, and (3) the capacity to successfully overcome the difficulties arising in the transfer operations.

Since 1978, China´s healthcare industry has gone through several reforms, including the application of Public- (non-profit) Private Partnerships (PPPs), and involving the introduction of market mechanisms within a “Mixed Economy” model. PPPs provide opportunities for leveraging resources that might otherwise not be available to the government alone. Therefore, it is imperative to improve our understanding of how they can be successfully introduced and managed. Through in-depth interviews, our chapter examines three PPPs involving hospitals in Guangdong, China and neighbouring Universities, in order to understand the difficulties in the process of knowledge transfer, especially involving tacit knowledge, so as to contribute to the development of more effective co-operation in these and other similar organizations.

In order to fight the lack of studies on the actual work of management consultants, this article aims at answer to one question that remains open. Are consultants the real experts and the true practitioners of strategy as practice? The results of the empirical analysis in the form of semi-structured interviews and questionnaires given to management consultants and SME managers in Portugal shows that management consulting is founded on a knowledge-intensive base, although consultants cannot be called strategy practitioners as many authors call them. This is illustrated in the model presented in this article, which means this proposition is a new direction in strategic thinking in what the field’s research strategy-as-practice concerns.
