But due to side effects like pain, respiratory problems, headache or pain during pack removal, trans-septal suturing is recommended as it provides stability and prevents septal hematoma formation without causing the above mentioned complaints. This study aims to conduct an in-depth comparison of the outcomes of the two aforementioned methods in an Indian population.Materials and Methods A prospective randomized comparative study was done for 30 patients between 18-50 years undergoing septoplasty, while excluding those requiring additional surgical interventions. Trans-septal suturing was done for 15 patients and polyvinyl alcohol nasal packing for the rest. Visual Analogue Scale was used to record discomfort levels 1 day post-operativel...

After taking informed consent, patients were randomly divided into 2 groups containing 30 patients each. In group A, graft was placed medial to the handle of malleus and medial to the annulus (underlay technique), while in group B, graft was placed lateral to the handle of malleus and medial to the annulus (over underlay technique). Both groups were reviewed after 6 months. Pre-operative and post-operative air bone gap were compared. Surgery was considered successful based on post-operative graft uptake, hearing improvement and maintenance of midd...

There are few sporadic publications regarding human ear myiasis. Osteomyelitis of temporal bone is also an uncommon entity. This study aims to describe the clinical presentation and management of a unique presentation of mastoid cavity myiasis and sequestration in a 4 year old child, who presented to Chigateri district hospital, Davangere with blood tinged discharge along with visible maggots from left external auditory canal and post auricular sinus since 3 days, with history of chronic otitis media. After manual cleaning of maggots, high resonance computed tomography of temporal bone was done, which showed findings suggestive of foreign body with bony density. Modified radical mastoidectomy was done, where osteomyelitis of temporal bone with sequestrum was encountered on table and removed. Diagnosis of temporal bone osteomyelitis requires a high degree of suspicion, especially in a setting of myiasis, as these 2 rare pathologies have not b...
