Objectives: this study aimed to identify the distribution of sociodemographic, behavioral and health knowledge for time in SB in adults. Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional study, with sampling by conglomerates. 970 adults were evaluated, aged 20-59 years, residents in Viçosa, MG. Sociodemographic and behavioral variables and the SB were evaluated through a structured interview. Results: Participants spent, in average, 329 min/day sitting (CI 95 % 317.61-340.26) and 147 min/day watching TV (CI 95 % 140.07-153.41). The younger age, being student, living without partner, meeting the physical activity recommendations, having higher schooling and higher socioeconomic level, having meals in front of TV and presenting a greater caloric consumption were identified as factors related to the " sitting time ". Among the factors possibly related to the " TV time " , working, socioeconomic level C, living with partner, knowing the physical activity recommendations and the relationship between SB and cardiovascular disease, having meals in front of TV and higher caloric consumption can be listed. Conclusions: Knowing how traits are distributed according to the time in sedentary behavior, helps in planning effective actions to reduce physical inactivity. It is recommended that sedentary behavior be considered independently of the level of physical activity form in planning health interventions.

Obesity can be considered a chronic systemic inflammatory disease in adults and younger people. The control of subclinical inflammation process through the practice of physical activity (PA) can mitigate the effects of risk factors that trigger atherosclerosis that worsens with advancing age. The objective of this study was to conduct a systematic review of the influence of physical activity and/or exercise on cardiometabolic markers and othrer risk factors of cardiovascular disease in adolescents. A systematic review was conducted in electronic databases Scopus, Pubmed, Conchrane Collection and SciELO. The terms used in the search were " cardiovascular diseases AND inflammation AND adolescents AND physical activity OR exercise ". A total of 24 original articles were evaluated, being 14 longitudinal and 10 cross-sectional studies. Overall, 16 articles (66.66%) showed that PA, exercise and/or sedentary behavior may have influenced or have been related to the concentration of cardiometabolic markers. All studies that examined lifestyle changes showed reduction of cardiometabolic markers. Some limitations were observed: reduced samples, lack of dietary prescription, evaluation and control of volume and intensity of exercise. Most of the studies analyzed showed that the physical activity could influence and decrease the concentrations of cardiometabolic markers in adolescents. However, studies with representative sample size and precise control in assessing the level of physical activity and/or exercise are required to determine accurately the changes that the more active lifestyle can bring on inflammatory process, as well as other risk factors for cardiometabolic diseases in adolescents. ABSTRACT introduction: Bone tissue can be assessed quantitatively by densitometry; however, when bone biomarkers are associated, bone fragility can be predicted earlier. however, little is known about the correlation between both, as well as on the current level of physical activity, and muscle strength. objective: to evaluate the correlation of bone mineral density values (Bmd) with the bone blood biomarker (CtX), and also with the level of physical activity measured by pedometer and questionnaire – ipaQ, long version, and the strength tests in postmenopausal women. method: descriptive cross-sectional study of 62 postmenopausal, healthy women, with average age of 56.82 ± 4.02, evaluated as for the current level of physical activity, strength, Bmd and CtX. total body densitometry was performed, as well as the lumbar spine, femur and forearms, and the tests for blood CtX, ionic calcium, phosphorus, and pth. two groups were formed: control with normal Bmd and group with decreased Bmd. student t-test, chi-square, and pearson were used. results: there were no significant statistical differences between the two groups for strength tests, current physical activity level and muscle strength in relation to CtX, but there was an association of this value with the values of Bmd. Conclusion: CtX has demonstrated dependence in relation to the total Bmd and lumbar spine Bmd, occurring low Bmd when CtX was moderate to high. this indicates that the biomarker might be used as a method of screening individuals at risk for low Bmd and increased risk for fractures.

ABSTRACT Introduction: physical activity acts improving bone mineral density (BMD) because it generates deformities in the tissue and stimulates remodeling. Objective: to determine the association between muscle strength and level of physical activity with bone mineral density (BMD) using biceps strength tests, sitting and standing, hands grip strength, history of physical activity and physical activity level, evaluated by pedometer with BMD in postmenopausal women. Methods: cross-sectional, descriptive study that measured the bone mineral density by dual energy absorption of X rays (DXA) of the lumbar spine (L1-L4), femur and forearm in 62 health postmenopausal women, with average age of 56.82 ± 4.02 years. A questionnaire was applied to assess previous physical activity and a daily step count (pedometer) was performed. Muscle strength was measured by grip strength tests, 30 seconds of bilateral biceps and sitting and standing test in 30 seconds. A 3-day food registering was performed to measure the daily intake of calcium and vitamin D. Results: participants had high levels of physical activity, but low daily intake of calcium and vitamin D. There was no statistically significant difference in muscle strength in both groups, with decreased BMD and normal BMD. The group with decreased BMD showed a higher number of daily steps and less weight when compared with the group with normal BMD. Several positive correlations of low magnitude although significant were observed between densitometry and muscle strength (p<0.50). Conclusion: the authors related risk five and half times higher in women not engaged in physical activity from adolescence to adulthood, and decreased BMD compared with women with normal BMD.

The aim of this study was to monitor the variations in the regional TSK during exercise on 28 regions of interest (ROIs) (forehead, face, chest, abdomen, back, lumbar, anterior and posterior neck, and posterior and anterior views of the right and left hands, forearms, upper arms, thighs, and legs) with IRT. 12 physically active young males were monitored with IRT during the following three phases: a) 30 minutes before exercise b) while performing one hour of moderate intensity exercise on a treadmill at 60% of the VO2max, and c) 60 minutes after exercise. During pre-exercise, all TSK reached a steady-state (P ≤ 0.05), which ensured adequate thermal stabilisation. At the beginning of exercise, there was a significant reduction in the TSK in most ROIs after 10 minutes of activity, except for the lower limbs (legs and thighs). After one hour of recovery, in the anterior view of the hands and thighs and in the posterior view of the legs, there were significant increases in the TSK compared to pre-exercise. There were significant distinctions in the skin temperature distribution during exercise according to the activity of the area under consideration during exercise, which may be important in the development of physiological models and heat flux analyses for different purposes.

The most common type, the type 2 diabetes mellitus, constitutes of 90-95 % of the cases and is characterized by the action of and/or impaired insulin secretion. Regular exercise is a recommended strategy in several studies and guidelines for type 2 diabetes control and complications associated with it. Therefore, we evaluated and compared the effects of aerobic and strength exercise programs on the glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes. The selected patients were divided into groups which performed moderate strength training (ST) and aerobic training (AT). The study lasted 20 weeks and was divided into two 10 week phases with anthropometric (body mass index, waist, abdomen and hips circumferences, waist/hip ratio) and biochemical (glycemic and lipid profile) assessments at baseline, 10 weeks and 20 weeks. For intra and inter analyses a mixed ANOVA model was used. Individual changes were calculated using the minimum detectable change, based on a 90 % confidence interval. Eleven patients (five men and six women) completed the 20 weeks of training; five from the ST group and six from the AT. No significant changes were observed in any anthropometric variable in either group. Statistically significant differences were found in mean hemoglobin A1c in both groups between baseline (AT: 8.6 ± 2.5; ST: 9.2 ± 1.9) and 10 weeks (AT: 7.2 ± 1.7; ST: 7.9 ± 1.2) (p = 0.03), and baseline (AT: 8.6 ± 2.5; ST: 9.2 ± 1.9) and 20 weeks (AT: 7.5 ± 1.7; ST: 7.4 ± 0.9) (p = 0.01). For the minimal detectable changes, 40 % of the ST and 33 % of AT achieved these changes for hemoglobin A1c. Both aerobic and strength exercises can help the metabolic control in patients with type 2 diabetes, even without significant changes in anthropometry over the 20 weeks of training. However, this period was sufficient to cause changes in hemoglobin A1c values and the estimated average glucose, which are important parameters in controlling diabetes, thus signaling an important consequence of adhering to an exercise routine for type 2 diabetic patients.
