Heated debates involving reforms in the educational system are becoming more and more frequent in... more Heated debates involving reforms in the educational system are becoming more and more frequent in recent years, mostly due to the increasingly evident shortcomings in the educational system and its difficulties to evolve at the same pace as technological development. Since nowadays people spend much of their time interacting directly or indirectly with technological devices, one can think of using this involvement with educational purposes. Through this interaction people have easy and inexpensive access to a vast amount of information. In this sense, one can think of methodologies to improve education by focusing on the foundations of knowledge rather than the emphasis on the memorization of contents. Therefore, the aim of this work is to propose and validate an interactive content authoring system as well as a virtual classroom where lessons are taught by avatars in an attempt to make learning experience richer and more motivating to students.
A Interface Homem Computador (IHC) é parte fundamental nos critérios de aceitação de um software,... more A Interface Homem Computador (IHC) é parte fundamental nos critérios de aceitação de um software, na determinação de seu tempo de vida e no interesse que o mesmo despertará em seus usuários. Apesar de sua importância, as fábricas de software, em geral, pouco se aprofundam em análises e investimentos na área de IHC, tendo seu foco profissional em regras de negócio e funcionalidades implementadas. O objetivo é utilizar o uso de papel e caneta com as técnicas já conhecidas e reduzir o tempo de elaboração das ideias e elicitação de requisitos de IHC. A metodologia adotada para o desenvolvimento deste trabalho foi a revisão bibliográfica e análise a partir de um estudo de caso. O resultado obtido demonstra que as técnicas existentes na literatura são adequadas para realizar o correto levantamento dos requisitos e que, quando combinadas da forma proposta, os requisitos podem ser avaliados antes da fase de codificação, economizando tempo e recursos.

A regulação do conteúdo didático na Educação a Distância é fundamental para o amadurecimento dos cursos, o conteúdo didático exerce grande influência sobre as estruturas cognitivas dos aprendizes, esta influência é claramente evidenciada nos resultados obtidos nos processos avaliativos. O estudo resultou na construção de um Ambiente Virtual e os resultados obtidos demonstram que a regulação certa pode resultar em conteúdos mais significativos para os aprendizes.

This work has developed a predictive control solution based on specific models for the process of... more This work has developed a predictive control solution based on specific models for the process of ethanol distillation. The advantages of such control are relative to the prediction of the consequences of the disturbances by the model, thus enabling the control action to be done in a previous manner, resulting in the minimization of the variables fluctuation controlled by the process. This results in, among other advantages, energy economy, in the improvement of the ethanol produced and in the increasing production capacity. Another desirable characteristic in this control mode is its capacity to act in non-linear systems as is the case of the distillation columns. Finally, it must be noted that with the application of an advanced control solution, as proposed in this study, it becomes viable, in a second moment, for the ethanol plants to operate in multiple operational conditions, such as: 1) maximum energy economy (scarcity of raw material, for example) and: 2) maximum production ...
Studies show that the fraction of code devoted to user interface has been increasing and offering... more Studies show that the fraction of code devoted to user interface has been increasing and offering ever more efficient ways to exchange information between the user and the computer. In this context, the use of methods, techniques and tools that assist the designer during development is essential. This paper presents the SisBridge tool that besides generating the prototype user interface in the Web platform, suggests design guidelines for the modeling of the interface, which represents a contribution to The Bridge methodology. Additionally, the tool describes the contents and structure of interfaces for multiple devices using the UsiXML language (User Interface Extensible Markup Language).
