I conducted this research to determine the laws related to termination of employees before the extension of given probationary period. In this research, there is an analysis on canadian and sri lankan laws related to above mentioned matter. In sri lanka there is no statutory provisions which have mentioned about the specific time period for probation. But in canada probations are protected under both common law and statutory law. But both sri lanakan and canadian laws have identified that probations must given a reasonable notice before the termination of their employership.
