The objective is to describe the innovation diffusion processes in business networks from Rogers' model perspective in which innovation is influenced by its social structure. The research considered the relation between centrality and diffusion potential of actors of a commercial cluster in Brazil. A survey was applied in the cluster of bars and restaurants of Vila Madalena region in Sao Paulo, Brazil. As result, the network with approximately 70 organisations was mapped. It allowed us to understand the social structure of the cluster, as well as the identification of the structural properties of the network. We found a significant relationship between centrality and innovation of the actors present in that cluster.

Usually, the relationships between the actors are complex, comprising both formal and informal interactions. Despite recent advances in quality and governance in supply networks, extant literature highlights the lack of quality in healthcare supply-chain networks in relation to governance mechanisms. This paper aims to investigate the role of governance mechanisms and their influence on the quality of healthcare supply networks, and assumes that governance instruments can support quality performance.Design/methodology/approachA multiple-case research approach was employed. Six organisations in the Brazilian healthcare sector were analysed (four operate only with renal replacement therapy, one is a material supplier, and one operates with renal replacement therapy and collective procurement).FindingsFindings showed that there is no formalised supply network structure in these organis...

Specifically, the paper focuses on understanding BDA awareness in Brazilian firms and proposes a framework to analyse firms’ maturity in implementing BDA projects in logistics/SCM. Design/methodology/approach A survey on SCM levels of 1,000 firms was conducted via questionnaires. Of the 272 questionnaires received, 155 were considered valid, representing a 15.5 per cent response rate. Findings The knowledge of Brazilian firms regarding BDA, the difficulties and barriers to BDA project adoption, and the relationship between supply chain levels and BDA knowledge were identified. A framework was proposed for the adoption of BDA projects in SCM. Research limitations/implications This study does not offer external validity due to restrictions for the generalisation of the results even in the Brazilian cont...

This study aims to shed light on what the main current blockchain applications in SCM are, what the main disruptions and challenges are in SCM because of blockchain adoption and what the future of blockchains holds in SCM. Design/methodology/approach This study followed the systematic review approach to analyse and synthesise the extant literature on blockchain–SCM integration. The review analysed 27 papers between 2008 and 2018 in peer-reviewed journals. Findings Blockchain–SCM integration is still in its infancy. Scholars and practitioners are not fully aware of the potential of blockchain technology to disrupt traditional business models. However, the electric power industry seems to have a relatively mature understanding of blockchain–SCM integration, demonstrated by the use of...

Big data analytics, cyber-physical systems, and the internet of things are cutting-edge technologies in which can be viewed as a pillar of the smart production systems. Although the literature growth in the Industry 4.0 and sustainability topics, studies reporting the integration of smart production systems and this cutting-edge technology in the environmental protection, safety and control are scarce. To outperform this gap, this study aims to propose a framework considering this integration. Since this is the first study that attempts to systematize these technologies in the environmental protection perspective, we believe that our proposed framework and research insights are a valuable contribution to scholars and practitioners. Additionally, our study contributes to the literature knowledge and advancement, shedding light on ...
