In this circuits only part of load power is transferred by the switches so switching stress is less and high power output up to 1.5 KW can be attained. Advantages of this topology are less size and volume of components, wide area of continuous conduction mode. Step up and step down converter have overlapping and non-overlapping modes. When duty ratio is less than 0.5, we can achieve non -overlapping and continuous conduction mode. Input voltage is taken as 200V, in buck converter 60V output and in boost converter 282V output is obtained at duty ratio 0.3.Simulations are done in SIMULINK/MATLAB.

One of the innovative technique is demand shifting. This project will focus on optimal utilization of available electricity during peak hours. With reduction in consumer load during peak hours, there is an opportunity to improve the load curve and load factor along with saving in energy bill due to the lowering Maximum Demand charges (penalties) during peak hours. This project also addresses the problem of developing a wireless diagnostic system for over current monitoring in household appliances. Wherein the high power rated apparatus are linked to the consumers PC to get alerts whenever the appliances are found faulty. This in turn reduces the unwanted increase in electricity bill. Motivated by real examples, we develop new schemes to detect not only fail-stop failure, but obstructed view and moved-location failures that are not the traditional fault detection foci. A mathematical model for hybrid stepper motor is derived using mechanical and electrical equations, which is used to estimate the position of the motor using Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). In position control, estimated value is compared with the reference position and when both coincide, the motor is held at a particular position for specified time and brought back to original position. The simulation results are presented.

In this paper, a model based traffic signal control scheme via state feedback controller is presented. An original contribution of this study is the use of area occupancy as the measurement variable, which is apt for characterising heterogeneous and lane less traffic. An adaptive Kalman filter is used to estimate traffic density. The developed control scheme was implemented on a road stretch simulated in VISSIM, a commercial microscopic traffic simulation software, and interfaced with MATLAB using VISSIM COM interface. The implementation was shown to satisfy the objective of maintaining the desired density in the study stretch which demonstrated the effectiveness of the developed control scheme.
