An interesting area is Telemedicine or eHealth applications, such as clinical sessions, second medical opinion, interactive training or surgery transmission. This scenario is featured by handle multiple video streams. In addition, other objects, as clinical images, animations, video-based exams can be used to enrich the multimedia experience. Thus, this paper approaches a strategy to record and recover the multimedia experience in telemedicine systems. The proposed strategy allows specifying multiple data streams and their interactions and enables to reproduce a multimedia experience and its plurality. The proposed strategy was applied in Arthron (a tool to manage remote and multiple streams in Telemedicine) for recording live surgery transmissions. We also discuss results of experiments held in the Lauro Wanderley Academic Hospital, Brazil.
Background To contribute to the knowledge of coleopteran cytogenetics, especially with respect to... more Background To contribute to the knowledge of coleopteran cytogenetics, especially with respect to the genomic content of B chromosomes, we analyzed the composition and organization of repetitive DNA sequences in the Coprophanaeus cyanescens karyotype. We used conventional staining and the application of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) mapping using as probes C 0 t-1 DNA fraction, the 18S and 5S rRNA genes, and the LOA-like non-LTR transposable element (TE). Results The conventional analysis detected 3 individuals (among 50 analyzed) carrying one small metacentric and mitotically unstable B chromosome. The FISH analysis revealed a pericentromeric block of C 0 t-1 DNA in the B chromosome but no 18S or 5S rDNA clusters in this extra element. Using the LOA-like TE probe, the FISH analysis revealed large pericentromeric blocks in eight autosomal bivalents and in the B chromosome, and a pericentromeric block extending to the short arm in one autosomal pair. Poor water quality condition has been pointed out as one of the major causes for the high mortali... more Poor water quality condition has been pointed out as one of the major causes for the high mortality of ornamental fishes exported from the state of Amazonas, Brazil. The purpose of the current study was to define water quality standards for cardinal tetra (Paracheirodon axelrodi), by establishing the lower and higher for lethal temperature (LT50), lethal concentration (LC50) for total ammonia and nitrite and LC50 for acid and alkaline pH. According to the findings, cardinal tetra is rather tolerant to high temperature (33.3 ºC), to a wide pH range (acid pH=2.9 and alkaline pH=8.8) and to high total ammonia concentration (23.7 mg/L). However, temperatures below 19.6 ºC and nitrite concentrations above 1.1 mg/L NO2- may compromise fish survival especially during long shipment abroad.
