Such questions are explored in the Paper.

It is red like a fireball. And represent the third eye of Lord Shiva. Mithuna Rasi(meaning couple. Ardhanareeswara) is 180 away from Dhanu (Sagitarius). When sun is in Dhanu Rasi and Moon in Mithuna Rasi , in a straight line , 10 degree apart, Indians celebrate this astronomical event as Thiru Athitra. (Sree Ardra). They are the two cardinal equinocal points in zodiac ,the other 2 being the Vishuva in Mesha and Thula. Thus Ardra Vrath is a celebraon of the zodiacal event in the Astronomical and agrarian calender of Indians.

For those who do research in both Ayurveda and Allopathy this can be a reference book for integration of indigenous medicine with modern medicine. For students and teachers of history this will open up new horizons. For example to remove a arrow in bone , Susrutha mentions stone instruments, wooden instruments , bone implements , and metals .That means whatever is available at teh site of injury was made use of by ancient people before the proper surgical instrument was devised specifically for the purpose. For making ligature after snakebite tendrils, cloths, tied up threads, valkala (made of bark of tree) are used. The use of these indicate the practice started when man was wearing leaves, tendrils and barks of trees and continued to cloth , and then only to a specifically devised tourniquet .By the time Susrutha wrote , these stages had already passed through, showing the age of the science practiced by him. It is a science practiced by earliest inhabitants of this geographic area and continued through generations .The classification of diseases, and treatment of each and care taken to explain the special procedures to the students are all noteworthy. Cancers are classified just as we classify now in Pathology according to aetiology according to systems involved (Systemic pathology) and also by the appearance , its properties (gross) , etc and also by the response to treatment. Whatever Susrutha describe show that he knew Pathology , disease processes and treatment before invention of Microscope. Modern Medicine had started from where Susrutha stopped his observations and proceeded to technological developments. But when it comes to effects of treatment of cancers etc we are still using what Susrutha advocated , sometimes cautery (which has become radiation now) and medical treatment (Chemotherapy) and surgery in some cases and palliation in many. I have done this work in 1990. If we do not forget our roots our history will be more clear. I do not think that my work is complete or perfect .But I feel a deep sense of satisfaction when I find out my own heritage of medicine and pathology in Susrutha, the son of Viswamithra and the disciple of Dhanwanthari. This is my Yajna in the altar of my professional education. Susrutha has used the panchavarsheeyapaithamahayuga and calculation of Paithamaha which Europeans like Thibout has ertified to be untouched by Greek knowledge. This also is an important point which historians should take note of.

Bharathamuni has described all the Natyamudra and karana in his text. It is said that Bharathamuni is the first to describe Natyasasthra. According to Bharathamuni dance originated with palazhimathana episode which is an often repeated and very popular theme for all temple artists. Story of Mohini (Vishnu’s female avathar) who started Lasya and music with saahitya ( vocal music) is popular in Kerala. South India is surrounded by great oceans which was called Palai samunda mana even during Ptolemy’s times, which is a corrupt word for Paal samudra (Milky ocean) . In BC 3500 we have a dancing girl figure from Mohenjodaro and a Yogin with padmasana posture , both of which are popular in temple arts . The dancing girl statue of Mohenjodaro is made of bronze, which means it is a very late development in the evolution of the Viswakarman family of Indian ancestors. ( See part 1). Karana and Mudra of the dancing girl of IVC is taken as an example. The different animals birds instruments Yogic asanas in sculptures of Kerala Temples is given with examples.

Dr Padmasubrahmanyam had done an excellent work in Tamil Nad temples. My attempt was to find out how many of these karana are depicted in Temples of Kerala, especially in Malabar area. Wunad Panamaram Vishnu temple shows maximum number of Karana , but most of the structures are dilapidated and in ruins and restoration is needed immeadiately. Others like Kadavallur ,Thriprayar etc are wellkept and photographing was easy. Erotic pictures are very rare in Kerala. Panamaram , Laloor show some. Occasional one in Avittathur also. But compared to the neighbouring states they are sparse. Several mural paintings depicting dance drama of Puranic stories are seen. Use of natural colours is noteworthy. Many are faded and needs restoration. Rock art of Akshayapathra with a Black Krishna on it is a find from Panchapandavatheertham , near the pool where Panchali is said to have taken her bath. Near it a few cupolas (considered as the feet of Bheema by locals) also discovered. Similarly a statue of Alexander in Thriprayar temple was a rare discovery .

The ability of women for education, war, Yajna participation and in Festivals and day to day activities of household is seen in Rgvedic hymns. The spiritual, and domestic status and even the activities of war of vedic women shows women were helping and doing all the activities their men pursued. This one-pointed concentrated effort of women is mentioned in the Rgveda (6.75.4-5) Brahmavadinis expounders of Brahman kept celibacy throughout life (Maithreyi and Gargi)and even after marriage, Sadyodwahas who studied Veda till they married Rishika which means a female seer of a manthra, samana-word for war, yajna and utsava (festivals).war defensive, protective activity (Goddess paervathy), yajna (spiritual, intellectualdevi saraswathy), Utsava social and cultural activity , which needs lot of wealth (Lakshmi). Brahmavadini Juhu Rishi (10.109) has Viswadeva as devatha. She gives Vak , again to Brihaspathi who had lost it. (From aphasia back to speech. Punardaaya). Thus Barhaspatya yajnam could be performed with help of Juhu. Vaak is the daughter of Rishi Aambhrina and called Ambhrini (10.125)In this devatha is Paramathma, and rishika Vak says she herself is Parameswari and this suktham is the famous Devisuktha. She
