Vojvodina has fewer inhabitants today than in 1971. This decrease in number of inhabitants, according to the latest census, occurred in all municipalities except in the City of Novi Sad, where the population annually increased by 4,703. The main objective of this paper was to analyze the movement of population between two censuses, focusing on the specifics of population movements in certain areas of Vojvodina. First of all, the area of the North Banat should be pointed out because there the population has been steadily declining since 1961. On the other hand, the South Backa area records a steady increase in population in the period from the World War Two to the present, mainly due to the mechanical movement or immigration to the center of this area - the City of Novi Sad. In addition to the population decline, the population of Vojvodina is characterized by higher average...

The Town of Novi Sad includes two urban municipalities: Novi Sad and Petrovaradin that is fifteen settlements. The goal of this paper is to point to the changes in the population trends in the suburban settlements and Novi Sad which occurred in the period between the censuses 1991 and 2002. In the mentioned period, the number of inhabitants increased in all settlements except Kisac, where on the average there were 34,4 inhabitants less every year. The population of Novi Sad and Veternik increased most. The basic question to be asked is: was the growth in the number of inhabitants caused by the positive natural increase or was due to the immigrated population.

The research starts from the assumption that there have not been substantial changes in the national structure of Serbia's population in comparison to two previous censuses (2002 and 2011), but that certain changes can be seen at the municipal level. During the observed period, the number of Serbia's inhabitants dropped by 850,998. The data analysis shows that the reduction in the number of inhabitants was seen in almost all ethnic groups during the observed period. There was an increase in the number of members of Bosniak, Roma, Albanian and Russian nationalities. All ethnic groups are older in comparison to the previous censuses.

This is best showcased by the conflicts arising between the proponents of these differing approaches - conflicts that are often characterized by an air of methodological dogmatism. The term ?methodological dogmatism? refers to the conviction of researchers in the superiority of their own approach, while delegitimizing any other. The main purpose of this paper is to outline the contemporary theoretical possibities of overcoming said dogmatism, and the three most prevalent approaches (triangulation, multimethod and mixed methods) will be presented accordingly. The goal is to identify the continuity of the ideas referring to the integration of qualitative and quantitative methodology, as well as to highlight the characterstics, advantages and drawbacks of each method. The paper concludes that the choice of method should be ...

For a very long time, Serbian emigration was directed primarily to the developed Western European countries (especially Germany and Austria). However, Slovakia has recently joined the narrow circle of countries-destinations for emigrants from Serbia. The article focuses on this wave of the working population emigration from Serbia to Slovakia and considers it in the framework of the contemporary migration theories, especially the push-and-pull factors theory. The research data was compared with the relevant data from previous studies. The research was conducted in the municipality of Kovačica (northern Serbia) with a questionnaire on the sample of 100 respondents (the snowball method was applied), and the authors also used various other data sources: statistical data (censuses, migration stati...

IntroductionThe need to examine the ethnic structure of population and the specificity of ethnic groups is indisputable in countries or regions that are characterized by a large number of ethnic communities, because good interethnic relations are an important prerogative for the progress and development of a society. Vojvodina, being one of ethnically most heterogeneous regions of Europe, represents an inexhaustible subject of research for sociologists as well as for ethnologists, historians and political analysts. In the ethnic diversity of the population of Vojvodina, there are more than 20 ethnic groups which differ in number, i.e. the share in the total population, the average age, economic activity, educational structure and other demographic and cultural characteristics, too. The ethnic groups in Vojvodina are of different origin. First of all, the Hungarians and the Romanians are ethnic groups whose home states are our neighbors; also, the Czechs, the Slovacs, the Germans ...

There are more than 20 ethnic groups living in Vojvodina. According to the most recent 2011 census, there are 1,931,809 people living in Vojvodina and the Serbs make the largest ethnic group, 66.7% of the total population. Hungarians make 13.0% of the total population of Vojvodina and with a somewhat smaller proportion come the Slovaks, Croats, Rroma and Rromanians. In the period between the two censuses the reduction in the number of members of all ethnic groups was recorded and the only ethnic group that increased in number was the Rroma. Different socio-economic and demographic trends have had a great influence on the reduction of the share of members of almost all ethnic groups in the total population of Vojvodina in the last decades. In both research studies the same questionnaire was used for data comparability. In the ongoing 2021 research, whose preliminary results will be presented in this paper, we have added a few items due to the presupposition that there are changes in the migratory patterns of village youth. Namely, the basic presupposition is that the difference in the migratory patterns of village youth is primarily reflected in the changes of the desired target place or target country, i.e. that a larger number of young people want to go abroad today that twenty years ago, when larger cities in Serbia were favoured. Another presupposition is that pull and push factors have remained the same to a great extent. The analysis of the results indicates that external migrations, i.e. going abro...
