Comparing the classification image with the true sample data, the paper got the feasible method for the desertification classification. And the accuracy of classification was also analyzed by using confusion matrix and Kappa statistic. The results show that the SAM could be used to classify land types with the overall accuracy of 0.7796 and the Kappa coefficient of 0.7139.

Theresult of this evaluation may play a key in forming a decision regarding whichprotocol to utilize for mobile networks or networks with high demand. Theevaluated protocols are Protocol Buffers, BERT, ASN.1, JSON, and XML.The result shows that Protocol Buffers had best performance for most of thetests and that XML had worst performance for all tests.

This study investigated the anti-nociceptive property of ethyl acetate, n-butanol and aqueous fractions of the root extract of Strophanthus hispidus DC (Apocynaceae) in rodents of both sexes. The fractions, at a dose of 200 mg/kg each were given via oral route to the animals used in the various models-acetic acid-induced mouse writhing test, formalin- induced pain, Haffner's tail clip test, hot plate-induced pain and tail immersion test. In each of the models, the ethyl acetate fraction, n-butanol fraction and aqueous fraction of Strophanthus hispidus each possesses a significant (P<0.05, P<0.01, P<0.001) anti-nociceptive effect. The anti-nociceptive activity of the fractions was mediated through central and peripheral mechanism. The effect of the extract was c...

The sample of the study included 81 Level 3 Foundation Program students in Nizwa College of Technology, Oman. The experimental group consisted of 39 students while the control group consisted of 42 students. The research instruments included a writing performance test that was administered as pre and post- test and a students’ perceptions questionnaire. Data analysis revealed that there was a statistically significant difference between the writing performance of the experimental and control groups in favour of the experimental group. The experimental group outperformed the control group in task achievement, task organization, grammar and vocabulary. Also, the students perceived using Google Docs in EFL writing as a very beneficial tool in improving their writing and collaboration skills. In light of these findi...

It also explored the differences between students of different proficiency levels in using grammar learning strategies. In order to gather data on students' grammar learning strategies, a frequency-based scale was designed and distributed to 170 students from Al Dhakeleya Governorate in Oman. The questionnaire consisted of thirty-eight items covering three types of grammar learning strategies, which were cognitive, metacognitive and socio-affective strategies. The present study revealed that grade ten Omani students used the three types of learning strategies to different extents. The study showed that Omani tenth graders used meta-cognitive strategies more frequently than cognitive and socio-affective strategies. The study also revealed that proficient students used more metacognitive strategies than less proficient students. The study makes a number of recomm...

The study also explores the extent to which students feel school has prepared them to the reading requirements of their university foundation programs. The study revealed that there were significant differences between school students and university foundation program students in the cognitive and affective dimensions of reading attitude but there were no significant differences in behavioural attitudes. Students also believed that they could not transfer the reading skills they acquired at post-basic education to the English classes at the foundation program because reading is different in the two educational contexts. The study makes a number of pedagogic and administrative recommendations ...
ABSTRACT How does granting certificates of ‘business clean of Arab workers’ to owners of shops, s... more ABSTRACT How does granting certificates of ‘business clean of Arab workers’ to owners of shops, stores, and Jewish businesses who prove they are not employing Arab workers shape identity? Identity development involves making sense of, and coming to terms with, the social world one inhabits, recognizing choices and making decisions within contexts, and finding a sense of unity within one's self while claiming a place in the world. Since there is no objective, ahistoric, universal trans-cultural identity, views of identity must be historically and culturally situated. This paper explores identity issues among members of the Palestinian Arab minority in Israel. While there is a body of literature exploring this subject, we will offer a different perspective by contextualizing the political and economic contexts that form an essential foundation for understanding identity formation among this minority group. We argue that, as a genre of settler colonialism, ‘pure settlement colonies’ involve the conquering not only of land, but of labor as well, excluding the natives from the economy. Such an exclusion from the economy is significant for its cultural, social, and ideological consequences, and therefore is especially significant in identity formation discussed in the paper. We briefly review existing approaches to the study of identity among Palestinian Arabs in Israel, and illustrate our theoretical contextual framework. Finally, we present and discuss findings from a new study of identity among Palestinian Arab college students in Israel through the lens of this framework.

Level-headed Aspen, the narrator, talks her out of its execution, but too late—a trio of bullies the girls call Buttferk have picked up the plan and acted on it. Realizing that they are the ones who will be blamed, A & L have to figure out a way to get three rather large pigs (and any evidence they leave behind) out of their high school in the middle of the night. Thus their summer begins. The girls try working fast food, going to parties, and rescuing a doomed chicken (Laurel works at a chicken farm), all of which end in disaster and punishment. Laurel is the instigator, with Aspen tagging along to try to keep her friend from getting into more trouble than she can handle, but with Buttferk dogging their steps and threatening them with retribution if they tell, they always seem to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, ending up deeper and deeper in trouble with both the law and their parents. When Buttferk takes things too far, however, the girls end up heroes, with the help of Aspen’s brother and his cute friend (who always seems to catch Aspen at her worst). As far as character development goes, this reads almost like a sequel, jumping into the middle of Aspen’s family life and her lopsided relationship with Laurel without providing much context; however, it’s clear early on where everyone fits in the grand scheme of things, and the book is so plotand antic-driven that character becomes a secondary concern. For readers looking for some light-hearted, decidedly farm-scented summer fun, this fills the bill quite nicely. KC
