This study describes a parabolic collector with Stirling engine and investigates the design of a linear mobile generator for these systems. Especially for direct drive in free piston mechanisms proposed for these systems, linear generators are important due to their advantages such as compact structure, light weight, high efficiency and high power intensity. Although conventional one-phase and three-phase multi slot/pole models are widely available in the literature, three phase is considered for lower PM cost and to reduce the cost of power electronics and 3/2 slot/pole combination is considered for high speed and frequency. In this study, a new 3/2 slot/pole three-phase tube-type linear generator was designed and evaluated for performance and manufacturability. Objective functions were defined for power and efficiency increase to reduce generator power ripple, and the results of Mixed-Integer Sequential Quadratic Programming, Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA), and Screening methods were compared and examined. Performance of the two-dimensional and optimized models was evaluated in terms of induced voltage, power density, efficiency, and output power. The best results were found with MOGA compared to other methods. When compared with the initial value, there was a 97.3% increase in power density for a 32.4% increase in moving weight. Moreover, the efficiency of the MOGA model is improved by 16.2% compared with the initial model. Additionally, significant improvements were shown in terms of thrust coefficient, voltage coefficient, power, and no-load voltage. A prototype of the model was made and a motor-driven crank mechanism system was used in place of the Stirling engine to undertake practical measurements.

Internal combustion engine technology has been considered for the alternator system in the last two decades. Especially when considering fuel diversity, reliability, portability, power density, research studies are increasing day by day. In this respect, interest has been focused on linear generator studies. Purpose. The goal of the research is to investigate the performance of a linear generator and its application to generate electrical energy from an internal combustion engine to solve the range problem of small electric powered vehicles. The generator, unlike a traditional generator, consists of a linear generator with a crank mechanism driven by an internal combustion engine. Originality. The configuration of the linear generator with internal combustion engine crank has not previously been reported. Methods. The numerical solution of the generator was carried out by the finite element method in the Ansys Maxwell software in a cylindrical coordinate system. The effect of stroke length and frequency on voltage and output power was investigated by monitoring an external electrical load. A prototype linear generator has been designed and produced considering the sizing dimensions. The configuration can be used in power-hungry applications and increase the range of small electric vehicles. Results. The results from simulation and practice are largely in agreement. Practical value. A practical mechanical system was built comprising a linear generator connected to a 2.2 kW internal combustion engine via a crank connecting rod for analysis. References 35, table 1, figures 15.

In order to supply required initial force, an IPM (interior permanent magnets) cavity tube type linear generator was selected. By using analytical equations' basic dimensioning of generator was made. By using Ansys-Maxwell dimensioning, analysis and optimization of the generator was realized. Also, the effects of design basic variables (pole step ratio, cavity step ratio, inner diameter - outer diameter ratio, primary final length, air interval) on pinking force were examined by using parametric analyses. Among these variables, cavity step ratio, inner diameter - outer diameter ratio, primary final length were optimally determined by algorithm and sequential nonlinear programming. The two methods were compared in terms of pinking force calculation problem. Preliminary application of the linear generator was performed for free piston application.

Although the working principles of inductions machines have not changed for years, the materials and geometric structures used have undergone significant changes. In this study, slits were applied in the middle of the rotor teeth, rotor-stator teeth and stator teeth of a 7.5 kW induction motor. For these three situations, the torque ripple, iron losses, copper losses, inductance, phase current and voltage inducted in the windings and flux change were analyzed associated with the change in the slit width and slit height. Due to the fact that it is difficult to analytically calculate the slitted models created, they were analyzed by software which uses the finite elements method. The stator-rotor slitted structure determined as the optimum (the one with highest efficiency) and the original motor were compared with 2D and 3D analyses. Accordi...

Materials and Methods: Breast cancer cells were loaded into a BTX 640 model cuvette with parallel aluminum plate electrodes and the cuvette were placed in the electroporation chamber which was connected to electroporator. Eight square pulses of duration 100μs (having repetition frequency of 1Hz) with 400V and 800V were applied to the electrodes. Since electroporation involves electrostatic properties, its analysis is performed using Ansys-Maxwell 3D Electrostatic transient module. In this direction, it is different from other studies in the literature. Firstly, the capacitance of the cuvette is calculated analytically by the parallel plate capacitor approach. Secondly; the capacitance value is calculated numerically by the software. The accuracy of the model is tested with analytical and numerical analysis. Thirdly, the electric field...

This paper presents an improved electric field grading device used in the medium voltage metal-enclosed switchgear. The solutions have been carried out by using Ansys Maxwell 3D software. The structure of two electrodes designed as cylindrical and elliptical have been compared to determine the electric field grading device to be used in practice. Sensors which sense the line data, such as power, voltage, current, line sags, temperature, and degree of icing etc. are traditionally powered by batteries. However, in recent years, by using energy harvesting methods, data of the energy transmission line can be obtained by the development of self-supplying wireless monitoring technologies. The energy needs of the wireless sensor system can be met with electromagnetic harvesters. Therefore, in this study, two harvester structures were investigated to harvest energy from the magnetic field directly on the line. Using the Ansys-Maxwell software, the magnetic field distribution on the transmission line of single C core and mutual C core harvesters was investigated. In addition, the change in voltage induced by two harvesters was investigated experimentally according to the change in line c...

The transformer’s analyses were made numerically by 2D AnsysMaxwell Solver software package. The Solver has also helped to study suitable transformer core and winding samples. Unlike medium frequency transformer, which is generally driven by unipolar PWM method, the designed transformer is driven by bipolar PWM method in the study. The core losses were obtained for different core materials (Trafoperm N3 and Amorfous 2605SA1) by AnsysMaxwell numerical and analytical calculations. The calculated losses for no-load working conditions were compared with each other. The designed transformer has been analyzed for its noload and loaded working conditions magnetically. Finally, the radial and axial forces created in the windings have also been examined for loaded working condition.
