Study aims were to identify changes in glycated haemoglobin values and predictors (baseline coping behaviour, fasting plasma glucose, disease-related and demographic factors) in patients during 1 year after hospital discharge. A longitudinal prospective design with convenience sampling was used. Subjects were recruited from a community hospital in Taiwan. Measures included Jalowiec Coping Scale, fasting plasma glucose, HbA1c values, and demographics. Generalized estimating equation was used to determine factors of change in glycated haemoglobin. A total of 57 patients completed 1 year of follow-up. Half did not receive diabetes mellitus education and regular exercise. Patients' glycated haemoglobin levels follow controls at 6 months after discharge. Patients with higher levels of blood glucose, less problem-focused coping and greater emotion-focused coping were associated with poor glycaemic c...

In Taiwan, several severe fire or explosion incidents have occurred due to its thermal instability or reactivity. In this research, the exothermic decomposition of CHP in Cumene was characterized by isothermal microcalorimeter, TAM (thermal activity monitor), because isothermal testing offers the advantage of thermal equilibrium

Among numerous chemicals, considerable attention has been given to unstable mixtures or intermediates used in the chemical industries because of their potential hazards. To reduce any unexpected risks, one must choose appropriate calorimeters to analyze reactive chemicals or their incompatibilities.

A quasiexperimental study design was used. Patients were evaluated at five time points: before treatment (T1) and 2, 3, 4, and 5 days after treating TACE (T2, T3, T4, and T5). Fatigue and depression were assessed by a VAS fatigue scale and a VAS depression scale at each time point. TFRS and BDI were administered at T1 and T5. Patients' fatigue and depression were significantly higher at T5 than at T1 in two groups. Fatigue and depression increased in both the experimental and control groups' patients over the five days of hospitalization during which TACE and chemotherapy were administered. The experimental group had significantly less fatigue than the control group, with lower subscale scores on physical, psychosocial, daily, and overall fatigue. There were no differences between the groups on depression. At posttest, the experimental group experienced lower physi...

From 1994 to 2001, several serious accidents occurred in Taiwan due to styrene monomer's inherent instability, deviation of operation and others. In this research, thermal polymerization under low temperature is characterized by an isothermal microcalorimeter, thermal activity monitor (TAM). Thermograms

In this paper, a probabilistic semantic network-based image retrieval framework using relevance feedback is proposed to bridge this gap, which not only takes into consideration the low-level image content features, but also learns high-level concepts from a set

Unfortunately, traditional keyword-based information retrieval is no longer suitable. Instead, multimedia data mining and content-based multimedia information retrieval have become the key technologies in modern societies. Among many data mining techniques, association rule mining ARM is considered one of the most popular approaches to extract useful information from multimedia data in terms of relationships between variables. In this paper, a novel rule-based semantic concept classification framework using weighted association rule mining WARM, capturing the significance degrees of the feature-value pairs to improve the applicability of ARM, is proposed to deal with major issues and challenges in large-scale video semantic concept classification. Unlike traditional ARM that the rules are generated by frequency count and the items existing in one rule are equally important, our proposed WARM algorithm utilizes multiple correspondence analysis MCA to explore the relationships among features and concepts and to signify different contributions of the features in rule generation. To the authors best knowledge, this is one of the first WARM-based classifiers in the field of multimedia concept retrieval. The experimental results on the benchmark TRECVID data demonstrate that the proposed framework is able to handle large-scale and imbalanced video data with promising classification and retrieval performance.

Four nested domains were configured with grid spacings of 54 km, 18 km, 4.5 km, and 1.5 km for domains 1 to 4, respectively. Three sets of experiments, EXP1-3, with various initial times and data cycling periods were conducted.
