An emergency repair is needed.

We operated on 14 patients with isolated PDA at our clinic between January 1994 and February 1996. The mean age 6.1 years (range, 1,5 to 18 years). There were 9(64%) cases of frequent recurrent infection, l (7%) case of postpartum dyspne as major symptoms. Diagnosis of all patients were made by physical examination and echocardiography. Catheterization study was done in 8 cases to research additional pathology. Operation was made through standard posterolateral thoracotomy. Division was performed by 3 clamp (l straight and 2 angled fine-toothed Pott’s) technique. There were no operative mortality and complications. Mean follow -up time of patients was 12.4 months (1-24 months). There were no early and /or late morbidity and mortality. We believe that, particularly in the childhood and the adolescent, technique of division may be used safely to overcome late com...

In 101 of this patients, the coronary arterial disease was critical and need to degree to require invasive procedure. Before peripheral vascular intervention, PTCA and/or coronary stenting was performed to 12(7.1%) of the patients, 78(46.1%) needed coronary artery bypass grafting and 11(6.5%) refused operation. Conclusions: It can be cocluded that without examination of the coronary arterial system by coronary angiography, performing peripheral vascular surgery only with DSA and/or peripheral angiography would increase mortality and morbidity.

Here we report a case with bilateral chylothorax that developed after bidirectional cavopulmonary anastomosis.

We describe a case of a 21 year old man with blunt chest trauma who was diagnosed with aortic valve regurgitation due to rupture of the right coronary cusp one month after falling from a high place. Rupture of aortic valve cusp was treated successfully with aortic valve replacement.

In such patients, however, complementary revascularization techniques may require in patients with multisegmental left anterior descending disease. Among the different procedures, we performed an alternative option in patients with multisegmental lad disease for providing complete myocardial revascularization. This study consists of retrospective analysis of consecutive eight patients between january 2008 and august 2013. In all patients, the surgical procedure consisted of standard aortic and right atrial cannulations followed by coronary artery bypass grafting with cardiopulmonary bypass. At the lesions of non-lad vessels distal anastomoses were performed with saphenous vein graft. After that lad arteriotomies were performed at the proximal and the distal segment of coronary stenosis, and a bridge was formed with a short segment valveless svg. The left inte...

There were 85 men and 29 women with a mean age of 63.1 ± 9.4 years, ranging from 36 to 84 years, and a mean preoperative ejection fraction of 53.2% ± 6.9%. The left internal mammary artery was anastomosed to the left anterior descending coronary artery under direct vision without cardiopulmonary bypass. There was no mortality. Postoperative morbidity included superficial wound infection in 3 patients. The length of the left internal thoracic artery was insufficient in two patients and the radial artery was used as an extension. Sixty-five (57%) patients underwent repeat coronary angiography (49 early, 16 late) and all grafts were patent. On intraoperative transesophageal echocardio-graphy, no segmental wall motion was seen during local coronary occlusion. Mean operative time was 1.7 ± 0.3 hours. One hundred and thr...

It is different from other inotropic agents by its inotropic and vasodilatory actions without an increase in myocardial oxygen consumption and considered as a good choice in high-risk patients undergoing cardiac surgery. We aimed to investigate the proper time of the administration and the effect of prophylactic usage of LS in patients with low left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Forty patients who underwent isolated CABG with LVEF) less than 30% were evaluated retrospectively. Patients were divided into 3 groups according to the induction time of LS during different phases of the operation and compared to a non-LS control group. LS infusion (0.2 μg/kg/min) was applied 12 hours before the operation in Group 1 (G1) (n=10), after the induction of anaesthesia in Group 2 (G2) (n=10) and during the pump removal period in Grou...

In this article we aimed to evaluate the outcomes of patients treated for heart injury in our clinic. Material and Methods: A fifteen patients underwent emergency surgery for heart injury at Bursa Training and Research Hospital between January 2000 and August 2007 were retrospectively evaluated. Results: Mean age was 25±12 (13-62), female /male ratio was 2:13. Right ventricle injury was found in 8 patients and left ventricle injury in 3 patients and pulmonary injury in 2 patients, left atrium and right atrium injury in one patient was also found. Five patients were operated with symptomps of cardiac tamponade, hipovolemic shock was major process in rest 10 patients. Ten patients were operated with midline sternotomy, 4 patients were operated with left anterolateral thoracotomy. Subxsiphoidal window was performed in one patients at emergency room. Hospital mortality was 27%, two patient were reopera...
