The study is a survey design that is based on both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The population of the study comprised eighty academic librarians from eight purposively selected university libraries in the country. The finding of the study revealed that academic librarians are aware of the existence of AI usage in the university libraries and that the fear of job loss is the major constraint they face in the adoption of the technologies; even though they are aware that the innovative technologies will enable efficient user satisfaction. The study recommends the need for academic librarians to make themselves relevant in this era of the fourth industrial revolution, by acquiring necessary skills that are in line with the technologies. It is also critical t...

Past research efforts on the use of library have mostly focused on the generality of students without localised study on a particular set of students. This paper therefore looked at whether graduate students of agricultural economics still use the physical library in the face of the growing efforts of promoting agricultural study and production in Nigeria. The factors that affect the length of time students spend in the library were also established. Simple random sampling was used to select 60 graduate students during the 2010/2011 academic session in Agricultural Economics Department, University of Ibadan. The students were administered with structured questionnaire and 57 were successful for analysis. Majority of the respondents were female while 47.37 per cent was single. Majorit...

Many studies have therefore been done to determine the efficiency levels of farmers, most of which are on technical efficiency. Few considered allocative efficiency (cost inefficiency), in relation to farmers’ socio-economic variables excluding knowledge sharing. This study, determined the effect of knowledge sharing and other socio-economic variables of poultry farmers on their cost inefficiency. The questionnaire was created by the researchers and an expert group in the Lagos State Polytechnic. Three states out of six: Lagos, Ogun and Oyo were purposively selected and 400 farmers were administered with questionnaire through convenience sampling but 336 were successful at 108, 107 and 121 in the three states respectively. Descriptive statistics and stochastic cost frontier were used to analyse the data. The results showed that majority, 63.99%, did not share governmen...

However, in all the means of information gathering and usage, female farmers are generally at disadvantaged due to their status at home and on the farm. The study therefore aimed at discovering through literature and primary data analysis, new approach to information dissemination to female farmers. Cluster random sampling was used and the data were descriptively analyzed. All the respondents are of legal capacity to use technology based information means as the women that falls within the range of 40 years -50 years represent 59%. 23% represents women within the age range of 20 to 39 years while the older women had the least percentage which is 18% representing 9 respondents. The study shows that the female farmers need information on how to do better and gain more in terms of output and profit respectively, but they are not aware of where to get these information. It was discovered that new methods of dis...

It is in line with this that the paper investigated the awareness and knowledge of predatory journals among academic librarians in five selected Nigerian universities. The study is a survey design that is based on both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The population of the study comprised 50 academic staff that were purposively selected for the questionnaire distribution. In addition, five principal librarians, one from each of the universities, were purposively selected for the interview session. The findings of the study revealed that academic librarians are aware of the existence of predatory journals and are also aware of the negative implications of publishing in predatory journals. The study recommended an effective mentoring programme for academic librarians on how to publish their research works in accredited journals. The study contributes to knowledge by providing fresh data for policy-makers, library management and university management on ways to eradicate publishing in predatory journals.

Six states in the Southwest region of Nigeria were used for the study, while purposive sampling was used to select forty small-scale businesses from each of the states, which brought the population of the study to 240. As a survey research, a questionnaire was used for data collection. The findings of the study revealed that information on sources of business funding was the major information need of small-scale businesses, while books were the most available information sources in the public library. Based on the findings, the study recommends among others, that government should provide more funding to support small-scale businesses; and that public libraries should acquire more information sources particularly those on sources of business funding, to complement available ones. The study contributes to literature and its empirical data will be useful to policymakers on how to reposition public libraries for effective provision of business information to small-scale business people.
