Terence Barrett

Dr. Terence W. Barrett received the M.A. Honors, summa cum laude, from Edinburgh University, Scotland and the Ph.D. degree from Stanford University, California. He was awarded a NATO Studentship from the Science Research Council of Great Britain and has held Oak Ridge Associated Universities S-Contracts. He has a multidisciplinary research and systems integration background and authored over 145 refereed papers in the scientific literature in the fields of physics, chemistry, information theory, nonlinear analysis and mathematics, authored or co-authored 5 books, as well as numerous chapters and review papers in books. He has chaired a number of international conferences. He holds 13 patents awarded and others pending. He was in academia as a tenured professor of biophysics at the University of Tennessee, and as a visiting professor of chemistry at both the University of Oregon and Princeton University. He supervised doctoral students at University of Tennessee, University of Adelaide, and George Mason University. He has been an Intergovernmental Act Appointee (IPA) Research Physicist and Applied Mathematician at the Naval Research Laboratory, a Naval Air Systems Command program manager in materials science, and an advisor to the Innovative Science and Technology Office of the Strategic Defense Initiative Organization.
