Anthropologist (BA) and sociologist (MA), both degrees received from Universidade Federal Fluminense, Brasil. Currently a (interdisciplinary) PhD candidate at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Studies Maya and Mesoamerican cultures, specially - but not limited to - their calendar systems. His theses and publications are also about Maya identity, contemporary Maya movement, new age appropriation of the Maya (...).
Creator of the Acervo Mesoamericano - www.acervomesoamericano.org -, for open access in Mesoamerican Studies, and of the Encontro Ibero-Americano de Estudos Mayas (Ibero-American Meeting of Maya Studies), in partnership with other grad students. Founder and first president of the Associação Ibero-Americana de Estudos Mayas - www.estudosmayas.net - (Ibero-American Association of Maya Studies).

Esta monografia é um estudo introdutório ao “calendário maia” que atenta para a diversidade étnica pan-maia e algumas formas de diferenciação sociocultural a partir do uso dos calendários na Mesoamérica. Buscando a transdisciplinaridade, e a superação das fronteiras rígidas entre as ciências e entre ciência e política, o trabalho serve como semente para o fomento dos estudos mesoamericanos e para uma ciência horizontal.

This thesis is an introductory study of the “maya calendar” that gives attention to the pan-maya ethnic diversity and some forms of sociocultural differentiation related to the use of calendars in Mesoamerica. Seeking transdisciplinarity and the superation of the rigid edges between sciences and between science and politics, the work serves as a seed for both Mesoamerican studies and a horizontal science.
