The prioritization of ASD patients involves navigating through complexities such as conflicts, trade-offs, and the importance of different criteria. Therefore, this study focuses on prioritizing patients with ASD in the healthcare setting through an evaluation and benchmarking framework. The aim of this study is to develop a framework that utilizes Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods to assist healthcare professionals in prioritizing ASD patients, particularly those with moderate injury levels. The methodology of the framework outlines several phases, including dataset identification, development of a decision matrix, weighting of 19 ASD criteria using the FWZIC method, ranking 432 patients using the VIKOR method, and evaluating the proposed framework using four sensitivity analysis scenarios. Among the 19 ASD criteria, the criterion 'verbal communic...

Most of the sub-Saharan African (SSA) healthcare systems are facing severe medicine supply issues, People living in rural regions or small cities have limited access to the pharmaceutical care. Medicines are scarce, people are living more than 30 km far from a pharmacy. Medicines are regularly out of stock. EpharmacyNet was implemented to improve access to pharmaceutical care in these countries. In-site test results had shown the potential of EpharmacyNet to fixe above-described issues. In this paper, the author presents an IoT-based smart medicine transportation and medication monitoring system as an extension of EpharmacyNet. The IoT (M2M) technology-based system is designed for secure transportation and quick delivery of medicines as well as medication monitoring to increase treatment adherence in case of chronic health condition.

Big Data analytics have generated an exponentially increasing variety of medical data from IoT devices such as drones. Today, the epidemiological data collection pattern in disease monitoring is gathering with drones. This includes organized, semistructured and unstructured data, leading to drone data trawling. This chapter provides big data to increase healthcare quality by applying effective machine learning (ML) strategies for segregation and drones-compilation data. The process intends to resolve the drone's use of trawled data and provide real-time analyses of the data. The ML algorithm implemented the Apache Spark core for smoother segregated streaming from various crowd sources. Three drones were configured for the experiment. The principle will increase the accuracy of health care forecasts based on the investigation findings. This result showed that relative to hierarchical clustering and density-dependent clustering, the K-means cluster has the highest smoothness rate of real-time segregating data.

The screening for NCDs in this specific case remains challenging since the convergence between both non-infectious and infectious diseases is less investigated. This chapter, therefore, aims at reviewing and addressing the challenges and limitation of the conventional methodologies for screening for diseases, in general. The chapter further proposes an innovative screening paradigm based on the internet of things technology. The chapter presents the state of the art on the conventional screening for diseases, discusses the fundamental difference between screening for diseases and diseases surveillance and monitoring, and the difference between screening for diseases and diseases diagnostics.

The state of the art of the use of these technologies in mental health identified 37 articles published in indexed high impact journals in the period 2003-2021. The snowball sampling method was used to select these papers. From this literature review, it appears that several of these technologies are used to support the early detection of mental disorders. Various systems based on wearable sensor networks, the Internet of Things and pervasive and ubiquitous computing have been designed and implemented in this sense. However, most of the applications are designed for academic purposes. 29% of the papers deal with the use of mobile technology in the detection of mental illness, while 67% have studied other technologies such as wearable sensor networks. 4%...

Like other social media platforms, OHCs also face, however, exodus problems where community’s members are most often moving from one community to another looking for answers to their concerns. This phenomenon is especially more noticeable in online health communities. Community’s members are connected to each other through the online discussion topics and subtopics. Since community’s members are moving from one community to the other and back, it is matter for example for the public health care system bodies to follow the movement of the health care services consumers or potential patients on the internet and, thus, determine their topics of interest with the objective to verify the information disseminated within these communities and act in the case of dissemination of wrong or life threating information. The final objective could be the improvement of the patient education material disseminated on the internet. To investigate patient’s behaviors and identify the information they are searching for and consuming on the internet, the ant colony optimization algorithm is used to detect their movements and topics of interest. Ant colony optimization algorithm (ACOA) is a probabilistic technique for solving computational problems which can be reduced to finding good paths through graphs. A community can be represented as a graph where the vertices represent the members and the edges le topics connecting members. The results of the conducted experiments shown that the proposed mobility model is more efficient, accurate, precise, and realistic than the common random mobility models. Furthermore, the test revealed a socialization enhancement as a benefit for the patient.

A variety of artificial neural network prototypes are examining in terms of their categorization effectiveness in a swine flu infection. The implementation results exhibit enhanced accuracy than conventional classification methods and are a reasonable and earlier diagnosis of swine flu. This method provides a suitable alternative of medical features for the identification of swine flu status. It also provides insight into the classification of individuals regarded as an “unidentified” phenotype on the origin of standard diagnosis methods. Scalability is the key challenge for large volumes of data, and we applied the Rainforest algorithm for improving the quality of classification.

However, being sensitive in nature, there are stringent legal requirements related to the sharing and processing of personal health data. There is a growing trend of using Personal Information Management System (PIMS) to gather, store, manage, and provide secure and privacy-aware access to personal data. Recently, blockchain technology has emerged as a lucrative option for personal health information management. In this chapter, we propose a layered architecture for a blockchain-based PIMS for managing data originating from medical IoT devices. The proposed architecture has four layers as follows: (1) A blockchain layer that provides functionality to implement and host blockchain database; (2) An IoT device layer that consists of electronic data devices such as health watch, weighing scale, and blood pressu...

The proposed, designed, and implemented solution is a full-fledged medical practice that brings together isolated health workers and urban-based specialists through an adapted speech-based scrum board in a multidisciplinary remote health care delivery system. Rural health workers can, for example, send to specialist surgeons the contents of their patient notes, lesion photos, X-rays and be remotely accompanied in dia...

Narrowband-Internet of Things (NB-IoT) comes with low-cost devices characterized by extremely low power consumption, offering a battery life of more than 10 years, and broad radio coverage to target tens of kilometers, but on the cost of low data rate and higher end-to-end latency. NB-IoT can be deployed in three different modes of operation; stand-alone, in-band, and within the guard-band of existing LTE carrier. In this paper, a hybrid network model embracing both NB-IoT and D2D technologies has been introduced. we first present an analytical framework to derive analytical rate expressions for D2D in NB-IoT networks. Then, the performance gains of network model are investigated through numerical evaluations that demonstrate the superiority of proposed model over the traditional NB-IoT network.

This problem is a major challenge in the NGNM field in terms of constructing ICT4D large-scale collaborative infrastructures for a rural community in developing countries. It is an optimization problem in the strong sense with resource constraints in the context of real-time reconfiguration systems. It is also related to the operability of distributed highavailability networks systems used in NGN communications networks in order to support development in all life areas such as Education, Health, Economy, Agriculture and even to ensure the survival of living beings in developing countries. The resolution of such problems requires a significant and simultaneous reduction of several performance temporal criteria.
