The research filled a knowledge vacuum in the literature by investigating the environmental repercussions of different waste generation and recycling processes in the Chinese economy. The study analyzed waste production and recycling statistics over the last 46 years, from 1975 to 2020, and their impact on the nation’s emissions per capita. This study used four primary approaches to determine the links between the examined variables, beginning with the unit root test, which identifies the stationary process of the variables’ underlying processes. Second, the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model was used to produce the variables’ short- and long-run estimates. Third, estimations of Granger causality examined the causal relationships between the variables. Finally, innovation accounting matrices (IAM)were utilized t...

With a growing emphasis on green technology strategies in strategic decision making, there is an opportunity for developing and implementing strategies to accelerate green technologies in developing economies. Therefore, this study develops an integrated strategic framework based on Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) for effective green technology planning. The SWOT approach scans internal and external factors and sub-factors essential for green technology planning in Pakistan. Subsequently, the Grey Analytical Hierarchical Process (GAHP) method is employed to compute weights of twenty-one subfactors. Finally, Grey Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Ideal Solution (GTOPSIS) is used to prioritize eighteen strategies developed for sustainable green technology planning. Results reveal that high productivity potential in t...

Paralleling the growth in the internet of things (IoT), the circular economy poses both risks and opportunities to various stakeholders in its development. This literature review aims to identify Industry 4.0 stakeholders' interests and expectations regarding how the IoT can be part of circular economy management. Contributions include identifying various IoT tools for dealing with circular economy challenges while also addressing implementation best practices. The transition of the circular economy within Industry 4.0 requires a better understanding of government, suppliers, international organizational interests, and expectations regarding the IoT. This study enables future research on circular economy practices and their potential sustainability benefits for manufacturing firms. This study's findings allow practitioners and researchers to understand ...

Limited work has been done on identifying the cost of carbon emissions on the tourism industry, which is evaluated in this study to fill the existing literature gap by using a large panel of 132 countries between 1995 and 2018. The results show that carbon emissions damage, methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions, and population density substantially decrease inbound tourism and international tourism receipts that result in an impact on the increase in international tourism expenditures across countries. The ex-ante analysis shows that inbound tourism will likely decrease from 19.546% to 16.854% due to an increase in carbon emissions damage of 0....

This study provides a unique view on innovation performance by exploring the mediating role of social performance between collaboration and innovation performance. For this, a structural model was tested through an empirical investigation with partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) using a sample made up of 239 export manufacturing firms. The results of the empirical study show that social performance appears to be a necessary condition for innovation performance. Our findings confirm the great potential of addressing social concern increasingly drive innovation performance. The next decade is likely to be a period of rapidly expanding social performance practices in the manufacturing firms. The managers could foster sustainable innovation by collaborating customers and enhance their firm social performance.

There are conflicting arguments regarding the effectiveness of contract governance and collaboration in an interfirm relationship. Previous studies have investigated the effect of a national culture on contract governance and opportunism. This study examines the effects of contract governance on collaboration, incorporating the moderating influence of cultural intelligence. Survey data were collected from 239 export manufacturing firms in different industries. The current authors suggest that contract governance might be more effective under conditions of a greater level of firm cultural intelligence capabilities. Cultural intelligence plays an important role in the shaping and implementation of collaboration and is the key to manage cross-culture relationship management in a supply chain. Cultural intelligence constitutes one potential way for the exp...

This is particularly true in case of Pakistan. This study aims to narrow the gap by examining the long-run and causal relationship among these variables in Pakistan specific scenario covering a period of 38 years i.e. 1975 to 2012, where all inputs are subject to change. The results show that energy consumption and water resources have a significant positive relationship with air pollution both in short-run and long-run. The relationship further supports the unidirectional causality of the former with the latter and not vice versa. Similarly, the results indicate the continued influence of energy consumption and water resources over air pollution for the next 10 years. The total natural resources rent exhibits the least contributor to affect air pollution in Pakistan.

The study employed two-stage least square regression technique on the time series data from 1975 to 2012 to possibly minimize the problem of endogeniety in the health services model. The results in general show that air pollution and environmental indicators act as a strong contributor to influence Malaysian health services. Urbanization and nuclear energy consumption both significantly increases the life expectancy in Malaysia, while fertility rate decreases along with the increasing urbanization in a country. Fossil fuel energy consumption and industrialization both have an indirect relationship with the infant mortality rate, whereas, carbon dioxide emissions have a direct relationship with the sanitation facility in a country. The results conclude that balancing the air pollution, environment, and health services needs strong policy vistas on the end of the government officials.
