Both factors, the pandemic and the NPIs, can be expected to have an impact on the Health-Related Quality-of-Life (HRQoL) of the population. The objective of this study was to estimate the impact on HRQoL of the Swedish adult population during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. A web-based survey was sent to randomised samples of the adult Swedish population before the outbreak of the pandemic in Sweden in February 2020 (n=1,016) and during the outbreak of the pandemic. The first wave pandemic data was collected in April 2020 (n=1,003), one-month after the outbreak and, the second wave data was collected in January 2021 (n=1,013), after 10-months living under ...

Ingenol mebutate gel, a recently introduced treatment for AK, is administered for 2 or 3 days, and LSR’s are predicable in onset and duration. Objectives: The objective of the study was to estimate the value of ingenol mebutate gel’s shorter treatment duration and tolerability profile to potential patients, versus existing topical treatments (imiquimod 3.75%, imiquimod 5% and diclofenac 3%) in the United States. Methods: The open-ended Contingent Valuation (CV) approach was used to estimate incremental willingness-to-pay (WTP) for ingenol mebutate gel rather than treatment with imiquimod 5%, imiquimod 3.75% and diclofenac 3%. Profiles for each therapy differed in regards to treatment duration, time-to-LSR resolution, ...

Objective: Our aim in this paper is to present an assessment of the budgetary impact of different policies for surgical intervention for obese and overweight subjects from a healthcare perspective in Sweden. Methods: The model simulates the annual expected treatment costs of obesity related diseases and surgery in patients of different sex, age and Body Mass Index (BMIMI). Costs evaluated are costs of surgery plus the excess treatment costs that an obese patient has over and above the treatment costs of a normal-weight patient. The diagnoses that are included for costs assessment are diabetes and cardiovascular disease since these diagnoses are the principal diagnoses associated with obesity. Four different scenarios over the number of surgical operations performed each year are simulated and compared: (1) no surgical operation, (2) 3 000 surg...

The values adopted by the authorities in different countries are analyzed and compared, and the estimation methods are also analyzed and compared. Comparisons are performed between different countries and over time, for the time period 1990-1999.
