The objectives of the research are (1) to know about the woman position and the role portrayed in the novel and (2) to know how the main character overcomes the problems in the novel.The method in this research is qualitative descriptive method. The data source of this research is the novel “A Chesapeake Shores Christmas” that published by MIRA Book, New York in 2010. In collecting the data, the writer used note taking as the instrument to get the data. A technique of data analysis in this study is Tong’s theory about the woman position. In this research, the woman position as wife is portrayed as the second by her husband because of the man put her behind in every household problem without asking her opinion first. She experiences an authority from the man in domestic and public. In addition, her position as mother has refusal by her children because she has ever leaved them ...
