It leads to chronic diseases, including type II diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases. Conventional treatments for obesity include physical activity and maintaining a negative energy balance. However, physical activity alone cannot determine body weight as several other factors play a role in the overall energy balance. Alternatively, weight loss may be achieved by medication and surgery. However, these options can be expensive or have side effects. Therefore, dietary factors, including dietary modifications, nutraceutical preparations, and functional foods have been investigated recently. For example, edible mushrooms have beneficial effects on human health. Polysaccharides (essentially β-D-glucans), chitinous substances, heteroglycans, proteoglycans, peptidoglycans, alkaloids, lactones, lectins, alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, terpenoids, terpenes, phenols, nuc...

Obesity is the excessive fat accumulation in a body, which hinders many of the metabolic processes as well as causes secondary morbidities. In obesity, when adipose tissues are increased, there is an enhanced need for oxygen; if they don’t get the appropriate amount of oxygen, they are turned into a hypoxic state, leading to activation of inflammatory markers and causes inflammation and swelling in the body. This excessive fat and hypoxia in obese patients lead to drug resistance. Hypoxia works as an obstacle in the normal influx of ions in the body cells because of which the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of the drugs are affected, and the drug cannot play an efficient role in the patient’s body. Moreover, the mode of action of the drug is also hindered by fats, and when there is high-fat concent...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the dietary food intake of the households in the selected location through a semi-structured questionnaire. Methods: A cross sectional study was carried out among 500 households comprised 2094 participants to investigate dietary intake and status of food insecurity. Furthermore, socio-demographic and weekly dietary food intake was collected through a semi-structured questionnaire in 2019. Those households who assent to participate were included in the study. Results: Mean household size was 5.80±2.05 comprised 49.27% male and 50.61% female. Six food types were commonly consumed in the study population. Among these foods (g/capita/day) starch remained at the top 734.43 followed by fruits 256.02 and vegetables 89.77. These data highlighted limited dietary diversity and reduced dietary intake. The energy intake (per capita/day) from the food basket, con...
