This study also examines the impact of exchange rates and external shocks on import prices, domestic producer and consumer prices for the economy of Bangladesh. The desire response function proposes that exchange rate pass through to consumer prices is the very high; followed by producer prices while exchange rate pass through to import prices is the lowest. There is strong evidence of a positive and significant association between the pass-through and the average inflation rate across the county and periods. Our findings also reveal the existence of bidirectional causality only for the case of nominal effective exchange rate and producer prices. The inflation rate, moreover, dominates other macroeconomic variables in explaining cross-regime differences in the pass-through. Keywords: pass-through, inflation, exchange rate.var model .

The air concentrations in sixteen cardinal directions have been estimated where the maximum concentration has been found to be at 110 m distance from the core of the reactor for all the directions. Calculated maximum doses of 137Cs, 90Sr and both 137Cs and 90Sr have been found to be within the ranges of 0.005-0.014 μSv hr–1, 0.013-0.036 μSv hr–1 and 0.018-0.05 μSv hr–1, respectively for all the directions, which are below the measured background dose limit 0.25 μSv hr–1 and also within the IAEA acceptable dose rate limit of 0.5 μSv hr–1. The calculated low doses due to the aforementioned radionuclides can be considered negligible with regard to the radiation hazards. The relationship between total effective dose rate for various pathways (i.e. immersion, inhalation, ground deposi...

It may be the presenting feature in type 1 DM, but more commonly it complicates previously diagnosed diabetic patients, both type 1 and type 2. If not recognized early and treated in a judicious way the outcome is often fatal. Objectives: The objectives of this study was to see the common presenting features of DKA, their precipitating causes, patterns of electrolyte imbalance, treatment requirement in early hours and to see the outcome. Materials and methods: This cross sectional study was done in BIRDEM General Hospital on fifty adult patients who presented with DKA over a period of nine months (January 2007 to September 2007). Results: Total number of patients were 50, male were 24 and female were 26 (M:F =12:13). Mean age was 27.6 ± 3.7 years. The incidence of DKA was more in known diabetic patients (32, 64%), in comparison with new cases (18, 36%). Frequency was more in poor vi...

We have studied 20 patients of D12, L1, L2 & L3 fracture with lower limb weakness. Data were collected by a brief history, clinical examination, surgery & postoperative follow up. Most of the sufferers were male (90.00%). The age groups were 21-40 years gripped the major proportion (50.00%) of the patients. The commonest causes of injury were fall from height (60.00%). The majority of patients had been suffering from L1 fracture (45.00%). The most (90.00%) of the sufferers had parapareses. The highest groups of patients (90.00%) improved after surgery. So, the study concludes that the anterolateral decompression, fusion & fixation is one of the best options of treatment of throracolumbar spine fracture.Bangladesh Journal of Neuroscience 2012; Vol. 28 (1): 24-28

Though hospitalization of diabetic patients with CAP is increasing, data regarding their clinical presentation, microbial characteristics, antimicrobial susceptibility and outcome are lacking. This study was aimed at finding any difference in clinical presentation, bacterial causes, antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of isolated bacteria and outcome in diabetic and non-diabetic hospitalized patients with CAP. In this study total 47 diabetic and 43 non-diabetic adult hospitalized patients with CAP were enrolled. Clinical presentation of CAP differed in diabetics and non-diabetics. Frequency of atypical presentation and CURB-65 score were significantly higher in diabetics. Pleural effusion with multilobar infiltration was also common feature for CAP in diabetic patients. Klebsiella pneumoniae was the most frequent causative pathogen for CAP in diabetic patients, whereas Streptococcus pneumoniae was the...

When Aung San Suu Kyi’s party came into power, the right of various ethnic groups, especially the rights of Rohingyas during Suu Kyi’s regime were violated. Unfortunately, the conditions for the Rohingya have continued to worsen. The findings of this research show that the human rights of Rohingya in Myanmar were challenged during Aung San Suu Kyi’s so-called democratic regime via ethnic cleansing owing to the absence of real democratic norms, unequal treatment, and state-sponsored violations of human rights against the Rohingya community. The key reasons behind the failure to ensure the rights of the ethnic Muslim minority include militarism in the democratic structure, a lack of democratic institutions, international politics and the interest of powerful countries, a lack of democratic culture, and an aggressive attitude towards the Rohingya. Finally, the pa...
