It is celebrated for their unique texture and subtle flavor and impressive nutritional profile. This article explores their nutritional value through a literature review and highlights their cultural significance and potential for inclusion in modern diets. A survey of 30 respondents (15 males and 15 females aged 18-65) from Northeast India provided insights into the cultural and culinary and modern dietary aspects of bamboo shoots. Findings reveal that bamboo shoots are integral to traditional ceremonies and festivals which symbolize prosperity with new beginnings along resilience and strength and protection. They are regularly consumed in various traditional dishes such as fish and meat curries including stir fries and pickles and soups and stews and fermented dishes like khorisa. Common preparation methods include boiling and fermentation and pickling also with stir frying and stewing. The literature review highlights bamboo shoots low caloric and fat content having high dietary fiber and rich vitamin and mineral composition including vitamin B6 vitamin E potassium and manganese. These attributes contribute to their health benefits such as aiding weight management helping in digestive health and regulating blood sugar and reducing the risk of chronic diseases. The survey also indicates a strong potential for incorporating bamboo shoots into modern diets with a majority of respondents aware of their nutritional benefits and open to including them in daily meals. Factors such as the availability of ready to cook products and increased awareness of health benefits and convenience in preparation are crucial for encouraging greater consumption. This research underscores the importance of bamboo shoots in promoting health, culinary diversity, and cultural heritage in Northeast India.

India being a diverse country has a very rich ethnic composition. Manipur which lies in the easternmost part of India has its shares of Diversity. Manipur boast of having different ethnic communities, majority of them being the Meitei, Kuki's and the Naga's, having rich culture and tradition unique to each other. The present paper highlights the indigenous practice of brewing beverages among Meitei communities of Kakching district. The practice of brewing has been an inherent part of their culture since time immemorial and very much in practice till modern day today. The findings of the study also show that it has been one of the main sources of livelihood. The paper becomes more interesting as it highlights the legal aspects of brewing as well.

Several reasons for excessive abuse of Psychotropic substances in this north eastern part of India could be easy availability of substances, lack of employment avenues, liberal lifestyles, eco friendly environment, proximity to the infamous Golden Triangle as north east India shares a long porous border with different countries especially with Myanmar where they are a part of the golden triangle and othe₹ According to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV Text Revision (DSM-IV-TR) identifies nine drug classes associated with abuse: alcohol, amphetamines, cannabis, cocaine, hallucinogens, inhalants, opioids, phencyclidines, and sedatives, hypnotics, or anxiolytic. Several drugs have been identified abused in DSM-IV-TR however Alcohol, Cannabis, Inhalants and Opium has been Identified to be most commonly abused by the clients attending rehabilitation centre among the four identified organizations. The findings of the study will suggest measures to the policy makers and the program implementers' for the best possible ways and means for substance abuse management and treatment.

On 25th March, 2020 the Government of India announced the nationwide lockdown which restricted the movement of individuals as preventive measure against the Covid-19 pandemic in India. Millions of migrant workers were stranded without jobs and left no other options but to return home owing to sudden lockdown. Many economic activities or work place were shut down during the lockdown as a result, many workers lost their livelihoods. A study was carried out in order to understand the socio-economic conditions and challenges faced by migrant workers during the lockdown, and respondents were randomly selected among the migrant’s workers (or returnees) in Tamenglong district of Manipur. The results show that most of the migrant workers faced the problems of unemployment, financial crisis, lack of transportation facilities, food and accommodation, psychological stress and social stigma.

Ginger cultivation provides additional income to households especially for the rural farmers in North Eastern India. The present study is an attempt to explore the prospects and challenges in ginger cultivation with special reference to Dima Hasao district of Assam. The major challenges that affects ginger production and marketing in the area under study is price fluctuation and inconsistent of ginger. Other factors like low innovation specific for ginger cultivation, lack of storage facilities, land tenure system affect the production as well as marketing of ginger. On the other hand the prospect of ginger cultivation is attributed to its profitability with very low investments.
