The often reported problem of low survival and poor performance rates by these enterprises, which have been attributed among many other reasons, to the lack of or poor managerial interpersonal competencies of the owner/managers, poor people management skills and lack of attention to agency relationships that are naturally found in family and non-family enterprises, gave impetus to this investigation. Despite such attributions and the growth of literature on managerial competencies and performance management, most previous researches have studied managerial interpersonal competencies in isolation, with little effort to appreciate their interplay with specific human resource management practices, such as performance management and the var...

Climate change has undermined efforts in the sustainable management of agricultural land and water in Chipinge. The impact of climate change on agricultural land management includes an increase in pests and diseases, recurrent droughts- floods cycle, changes in the distribution of rainfall, and an increase in violent wind and rainfall intensity. The research used both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. The results indicated that climate change intersects with sustainable land management (SLM) efforts directly (by affecting soil function, watershed hydrology, and vegetation patterns) and indirectly (by stimulating changes in land use practices). Although people’s adaptive and mitigation strategies may not succeed completely, they form the basis of solutions to natural disaster preparedness. Addressing the threat of i...

The research explored the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods used in SMEs and their implications on the performance of SMEs in the construction industry in Zimbabwe. The study revealed that collective bargaining and negotiation are the main ADR methods used in the SMEs while conciliation and arbitration are utilized externally at NEC and the ministry of labour. It was also noted that most SMEs do not have established ADR structures and collective bargaining and negotiation had an impact on employee performance. With this observation, the need to extent this finding in other contexts among FOSMEs and NFOSMEs in de...
