Bobrek disi dokularda da 1-alfa hidroksilaz enzimi araciligiyla aktif vitamin D sentezi gerceklesmektedir. D vitamininin reseptor duzeyindeki etkisi aktif vitamin D sayesinde olur. Otuzdan fazla dokuda vitamin D reseptorleri gosterilmistir. Vitamin D'nin iskelet sistemi disindaki etkileri 3 ana baslik altinda toplanmaktadir: Hormon sekresyonunun regulasyonu, immun fonksiyonlarin regulasyonu, hucre proliferasyon ve farklilasmasinin duzenlenmesi. Immun sistem, cilt hastaliklari, kanser vitamin D ile iliskisi en cok arastirilan konular arasindadir. Anahtar Kelimeler: D vitamini; kemik disi etkiler; immun sistem; deri; kanser SUMMARY In humans, approximately 95% of the total requirement for vitamin D is synthesized in the skin by the effects of sunlight. The active vitamin D synthesis from 25 (OH) D takes place via the 1-alpha hydroxylase enzyme both in renal and non-renal tis...

The purpose of this study is to search the serum paraoxonase 1 (PON1), arylesterase and oxidative status with serum prolidase activities in people with AA. Methods: The study included 60 AA and 50 healthy control subjects. In both groups, serum PON1, prolidase, arylesterase activities, total oxidative status (TOS) and total antioxidant capacity (TAS) levels and oxidative stress index (OSI) were calculated. Results: TOS, OSI levels and prolidase activity in patients with AA were found to be significantly higher compared to the control group (p = 0.02, p = 0.004, p < 0.001, respectively), whereas PON1 and arylesterase activities were significantly lower (p < 0.001, p = 0.005, respectively). There was no difference in serum TAS levels between the two groups. Conclusion: This comprehensive work shows that the role...

Skin metastasis may be the first sign of a clinically silent visceral cancer or represent recurrence of an internal malignancy. In both situations, they are associated with poor prognosis, which can partly be attributed to underdiagnosis. In this paper, a case of relapsing gastric adenocarcinoma, which manifested itself as asymptomatic cutaneous papules and nodules on a patient’s head and neck, is reported and histopathological approach to the cutaneous lesions containing signet-ring cell is briefly reviewed.

Skin involvement is nonspecific and it is reported to range between 0,4 and 17% of the patients with brucellosis. Here, we defined a 36-year-old female patient presented to our clinic with a clinical picture of recurrent attacks of vasculitis due to brucellosis for the first time. Skin involvement and vasculitic lesions as a finding of skin involvement are nonspecific in brucellosis. Therefore, in the regions like Turkey where brucellosis is endemic, brucellosis should be kept in mind necessarily in the differential diagnosis of vasculitis.

Despite its similarity to pustular psoriasis and association with fever and leukocytosis, AGEP typically heals quickly. Etiologically, drugs and viruses have been suspected in most cases. Here, we present a case of AGEP, in a woman, that developed 1 day after starting bupropion for smoking cessation, as a rare side effect of the treatment.

In this study, the role of Treg‐cell functions in the skin of patients with nonsegmental vitiligo was investigated. Lesional and nonlesional skin samples from 30 adult volunteers ranging in age from 18 to 36 years with nonsegmental vitiligo were compared with normal skin area excision specimens of 30 benign melanocytic nevus cases as controls. All samples were evaluated staining for forkhead box P3 (Foxp3), TGF‐β, and IL‐10 using the standardized streptavidin–biotin immunoperoxidase immunohistochemistry method. Foxp3 expression was lower in lesional vitiligo skin specimens compared to controls; it was also lower in lesional vitiligo specimens than nonlesional vitiligo specimens. IL‐10 levels were lower in lesional vitiligo specimens compared to the controls, whereas IL‐10 exp...
