Using data from a survey of 2,660 farm-families and focused group discussions in Bihar (India), Terai (plains) (Nepal) and coastal Bangladesh, we employed logistic regression to investigate household response towards migration and gender dimensions of adverse climatic events. The results suggest that migration decisions depend on farmers’ unique resource profiles: (a) households that use migration to improve their resilience, mostly resource rich households; (b) households that have no alternative but to migrate, mostly poor farmers; and (c) households who cannot migrate due to different socio-economic obligations, mostly farmers with intermediate level of income that also includes women, children and elderly of different income profiles. These profiles represent a spectrum with households within a profile being cl...

Financial institutions are realizing knowledge as a crucial resource in organization and should be managed judiciously. Despite the claims for positive relation between KM process and business performance in banking sector, few researchers have actually proved it. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to measure the effect of knowledge management practices on financial and market performance of banking sector in Nepal. In this study, a sample of 385 respondents was selected randomly from four different types of financial institutions of Kathmandu, Nepal. Statistical analysis was done to draw the conclusion. The results clearly showed that components of KM process (KM obtaining, KM organizing & KM applying) have positive relation with the organizational perform...

Objectives: Cervical spinal cord injury (SCI) is a devastating event for patient and family. It has a huge impact on society because of intensive resources required to manage the patient in both acute and rehabilitation phases. With the limited resource setting in underdeveloped countries like Nepal, questions are often raised regarding whether the outcome justifies the expenses of their care. The objective was to assess the outcomes of cervical SCI patients admitted to intensive care unit (ICU). Methods: All cervical SCI admitted in ICU during May 2017 to August 2018 were included in this study. Demographic details, mode, morphology, and neurological level of injury, intervention performed and outcomes of ICU stay were analyzed. Results: Out of 48 patients, 36 (75%) were male and 12 female with mean age 43.9 ± 15.9 years. Fall injury was the commonest mode of injury (83.3%). Most patients presented within 1 to 3 days of injury and C5-C6 (33.3%) wa...

But in Nepal, the MMM 2020 was conducted by following COVID-19 safety measures. Methods: We used an opportunistic screening campaign for blood pressure measurement among individuals ≥18 years in Nepal. Of the three measurements, the second and third measurements were used to estimate the mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure(BP). We defined hypertension as the systolic BP ≥ 120 or diastolic BP≥90 mmHg and or currently taking antihypertensive medicine. Results: Among the total 11,486 participants, 57%(6568/11486) were females. The mean age of the screenees was 45years(SD=17.0). The mean systolic and diastolic BP were 125.8(SD= 18.0) and 81.6(SD=10.5) respectively. About 31.3%(3592/11481) participants had hypertension. Among the hypertensive persons, 40.2%(1444/3592) were aware of their hypertension status. Among these who were aware, 79.4%(1146/1444) were taking antihy...

Effective and efficient management is a means to achieve predetermined goals. Organization cannot be successful unless it satisfies the clients. This descriptive cross-sectional study includes 680 patients which were selected from 4 public and 6 private hospitals randomly chosen from province 1. A direct interview method was used to gather and collect the data from clients' and hospital authorities for the quantitative method. The client satisfaction level was tabulated on the basis of 5 points liker scale. The reliability and the validity of the satisfaction scale for quantitative research we rechecked and examined. Association of categorical variables was assessed by Chi-square test. 92% of clients reported the higher satisfaction in the different aspects of nursing services .Around 31% of patients were complete...

ED is a blind sensing technique and it is easy to implement while conceptually simple. However, it is highly affected by interference and noise uncertainties. Therefore, CFD is applied for fine sensing as research has shown that Cyclostationary Feature Detector is more suitable than the energy detection when noise uncertainties are unknown. Our method is novel in trying to derive a sequential Energy Detector and combine it with Cyclostationary Feature Detector for low SNR region where average sample number (ASN) as a random variable may take very high value to achieve a desired performance level for sequential Energy Detector. For this sequential Energy Detector is terminated after it reaches certain cut-off sample number, making it truncated sequential Energy Detector.

The direct relation is with the health services provided to the people which are effectively used where the fulfillment of patient is always kept on the list of high priority. This satisfaction of people directly links with the major factors like healthy communication with the staffs of hospitals like doctors, nurses and other personnel, nature of quality services and other facilities provided by the hospital. The study of this is the descriptive and huge study which is currently carried out in province 1 of the eastern Nepal in 10 hospitals in different locations. Based on the random sampling, the hospitals were selected from the province 1 which resulted in 18 government hospitals and 40 private hospitals which are running currently. Among the 18 government hospitals, 6 government hospitals and 40 privat...

Objective: To describe the demographics, timing to surgery, delay, short-term neurological recovery, and complications in surgically treated subaxial cervical trauma in a resource-constrained country. Methods: Thirty consecutive subaxial cervical trauma patients presenting to a trauma hospital in Nepal between December 2015 and August 2017 were analyzed as a retrospective cohort. Patients were segregated into 4 groups based on the timing to surgery: within 2 days, 3 to 7 days, 8 to 30 days, and >31 days. Results: There were 27 male and 3 female patients with mean age 40 years. Twenty-four sustained fall injury, and 27 patients were from outside Kathmandu. No patients were treated within the first 48 hours; only 9 were treated between 3 and 7 days, 16 between 8 and 30 days, and 5 a month later. Major delay was finance and operating room availability. Thirteen patients had a C6C7 involvement followed by C5C6 in 6 patients. Seven pa...
