Herein, we report the concise and divergent total syntheses of three naturally occurring dihydrochalcones from readily available starting materials. The divergent strategy is based around manipulation of a common chalcone scaffold and features application of Grignard Reaction followed by oxidation for synthesising ketones. This is the first reported total synthesis of Taccabulin D.Concise and flexible route should be readily amenable to future analogue generation. Furthermore, this work provides an illustration of the utility of divergent synthesis for the convenient and step-economical preparation of natural product libraries of various dehydrochalcones. An efficient synthesis of 5-arylidine 2,4-thiazolidinediones by the Knoevenagel condensation of a... more An efficient synthesis of 5-arylidine 2,4-thiazolidinediones by the Knoevenagel condensation of aromatic aldehydes with 2,4-thiazolidinedione using 1-benzyl-3-methylimidazolium dihydrogen phosphate ([bnmim]H2PO4) acidic ionic liquid at 70°C. This method gives remarkable advantages such as simple procedure, reactions at mild condition, much faster (50-90 min) reactions, excellent yield of products and the ionic liquid was successfully reused for four cycles without significant loss of activity.
A simple, highly versatile and efficient method for the synthesis of 1,1- diacetates (acylals) is... more A simple, highly versatile and efficient method for the synthesis of 1,1- diacetates (acylals) is achieved from the various aliphatic, aromatic and heteroaryl aldehydes with acetic anhydride at room temperature under solvent-free conditions using titanium dioxide (TiO2) as catalyst. The key advantages of this process are mild condition, excellent chemoselectivity, easy work-up, excellent yields, very short time reactions and use of nontoxic, inexpensive, recyclable heterogeneous catalyst.
A simple, green and environmentally benign route has been developed for the Knoevenagel condensat... more A simple, green and environmentally benign route has been developed for the Knoevenagel condensation of 4-oxo- (4H)-1-benzopyran-3-carbaldehydes and 2-chloroquinoline-3-carbaldehyde with various active methylene compounds viz. malononitrile, ethylcyanoacetate, cyanoacetic acid, cyanoacetamide and Meldrum’s acid were carried out in the presence of catalytic amount of basic ionic liquid 1-benzyl-3-methylimidazolium hydroxide ([bnmim]OH) by grinding method. The remarkable advantages of the present method are mild reaction conditions, short reaction time, excellent yields and green aspects by avoiding toxic catalyst and hazardous solvent. Additionally, the ionic liquid was successfully reused for four cycles without significant loss of activity.

This method gives remarkable advantages such as short reaction times (30-60 sec), simple work-up procedure and excellent yields (85-96%). The ionic liquid was successfully reused for four cycles without significant loss of activity.

Here, a non�conventional synthetic procedure has been developed where solid support of alumi�na is used as energy transfer medium under microwave irradiation (MWI) which devoids hazards of solution phase reactions. The reaction time has been brought down from minutes to seconds with improved yield as com�pared to reported method.

This method provides several advantages including environmental friendliness, shor t reaction times, high yields and a simple work-up procedure. Moreover, the CSA was successfully reused for four cycles without significant loss of activity.

Herein, we report the concise and divergent total syntheses of three naturally occurring dihydrochalcones from readily available starting materials.
