The synthesized material was analyzed by Raman spectroscopy, UV–visible, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) support its applicability as a super-adsorbent for the adsorption of As(V) ions from aqueous solutions. The effect of various parameters, including initial ion concentration, temperature, adsorbent dose, and pH on the adsorption of As(V) was studied to recognize the optimum adsorption conditions. The qmax obtained for this study using Langmuir isotherms was found at 147.06 mg/g at room temperature. Thermodynamic parameters ΔH°, ΔG°, and ΔS° were also calculated and negative values of ΔG° represent that the As(V) adsorption process occurred exothermically and spontaneously. Meanwhile, th...

The Earth Summit organized by the United Nations has played the significant role in creating awareness about sustainable development to retort against the natural calamities, due to over-exploitation of natural resources and exponential growth of the human population for centuries. For the quest of sustainability, fungi have emerged as a suitable candidate. Fungi play a pivotal role in fundamental and modern processes of biotechnology. Nowadays many processes such as baking, brewing and the synthesis of alcohols, antibiotics, enzymes, organic acid as well as the additional pharmaceutical product are carried out using fungal bioproducts. Due to recent advances in genomics and rDNA technology, yeast and fungi have attained the forefront position because of their present industrial purposes. In general, the term “mycotechnology” is used, which states about the various roles of fungi with the addition to its impact on biotechnology as well as economy.

Acephate degradation by microbes is considered to be a safe and effective method. The overall aim of the present study was to identify acephate biodegrading microorganisms and to investigate the degradation rates of acephate under the stress of humic acid and most common metal ions Fe(III) and copper Cu(II). Pseudomonas azotoformanss strain ACP1, Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain ACP2, and Pseudomonas putida ACP3 were isolated from acephate contaminated soils. Acephate of concentration 100 ppm was incubated with separate strain inoculums and periodic samples were drawn for UV—visible, FTIR (Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy) and MS (Mass Spectrometry) analysis. Methamidophos, S-methyl O-hydrogen phosphorothioamidate, phosphenothioic S-acid, and phosphenamide were the major metabolites formed during the degradation of acephate. The rate of degradation was applied us...

Secondary molecules of plants are considered as major therapeutic agents to cure diverse classes of disease. The aim of the present study was to identify the secondary molecules of the leaf extract of Holoptelea integrifolia (HI). Identification of biomolecules using the fourier transformation infrared (FTIR) and gas chromatography coupled with high resolution mass spectrometer (GC-HRMS) have confirmed the presence of seven prominent molecules including four new molecules. The four new molecules identified though GC-HRMS were (Z)-octadeca-9,17-dienal (13.17%), (9Z,12Z)-octadeca-9,12-dienoyl chloride (3.22%), 1,3-dihydroxypropan-2-yl palmitate (6.01%), and 17-acetyl-14-hydroxy-10,13-dimethyl-decahydro-2H-cyclopenta[α]phenanthrene-3,12,15(4H,14H,16H) - trione. The aqueous extract of HI leaves exhibited the antioxidant potential (>59%), anti-diabetic (78.45 ± 5.55%), anti-inflammatory (value of binding constants (k) was 1.83 ± 0.06 × 10−4 μM−1) and antimicrobial (MIC values 20–30 mg/ml) qualities. Moreover, the observed values of various physicochemical parameters including pH, loss on drying, total ash, acid insoluble ash, water extractive values, and alcohol extractive studies were 7.07 ± 0.37, 8.55 ± 0.75%, 18.12 ± 1.21%, 10.07 ± 0.87%, 37.97 ± 2.31%, and 29.36 ± 1.27% respectively. Also, pharmacognostic analyses were performed. The results of present study could contribute to the isolation of new compounds those may have medicinal qualities.

Structure of newly synthesized molecule 1 was confirmed by using the elemental analysis, mass spectrometric, NMR, UV-visible, and FTIR spectroscopic techniques. To obtain better structural insights of molecule 1, 3D molecular modeling was performed using the GAMESS programme. Microbial activities of 1 were checked against the pathogenic strains Aspergillus fumigatus (NCIM 902) and Salmonella typhimurium (NCIM 2501). Molecule 1 has shown excellent activities against fungal strain A. fumigates (35 μg/l) and bacterial strain S. typhimurium (25 μg/l). To check the medicinal significance of molecule 1, interactions with bovine serum albumin (BSA) protein were checked. The calculated value of binding constant of molecule 1-BSA complex was 1.4 × 10(6) M(-1), which were similar to ...

The researchers have proposed an idea of sustainability manufacturing as the solution to the above said problems. Sustainable manufacturing is defined as the creation of manufactured parts through processes that are non-polluting, conserve energy and natural resources, and are economically sound and safe for employees, communities, and consumers. The objective of sustainability manufacturing can only be achieved if there is a system that is able to measure sustainability of a manufacturing process or a product. The present research deals with determination of Sustainability of a die casting part at its design stage. The system is designed in GUI of MATLAB 7. It uses the theoretical formula e to determine the quantitative value of each sustainability indicators for the various phases of the lifecycle of die...
