Methods: This descriptive and causal-comparative research consisted of 88 mothers with infants aged 3-12 months who referred to the vaccination wards of Qom community health centers. The mothers were divided into two groups with and without a history of gestational diabetes. The research instruments were the IBQ-R infant mood assessment questionnaire and the individual information questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney, Chi-square and SPSS software. Results: There is difference between the average perceptual sensitivity of infants of mothers with gestational diabetes and healthy mothers (P<0.05). the level of perceptual sensitivity in infants in mothers w...

Objectives: The present study aimed to assess the effect of TBL in teaching a medical physics course on the poor performance of the students. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted on 28 medical students at Qom University of Medical Sciences, Iran who were unable to pass the medical physics course in the past semesters. At the beginning the 10-session course, eight questions with four options were provided to the students, and the students had to answer the questions individually within a specified time. After collecting the questionnaire responses, participants were divided into six groups and completed the same test as a team. Afterwards, each question was displayed on a smart board and discussed. Results: After the procedures of the study, all the participants successfully completed the medical physics course. At the end of the cou...

Considering the prominent and unique role of students as future managers and creators of a society, provision of spiritual health as well as identification and removal of negative factors affecting their spiritual health are necessary. This study was conducted to determine the association between spiritual health and academic achievement of medical students of Qom University of Medical Sciences in 2011.Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was performed on all students studying in Qom University of Medical Sciences (except the first semester of study) through census method. The instruments used were a two part questionnaire included personal characteristics and academic grade point average as well as Spiritual Well-being Scale (SWBS). Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics at significance (p<0.05) level. Results: In this study, 50.44% of the studied samples had favorable spiritual health and 40.55% had unfavorable spiritual health. The score of spiritual health had significant association with the marital status (p<0.05), but had no significant associations with age, gender, parental educational level, and nativeness (p>0.05). In addition, a statistically significant relation was observed between spiritual health and academic grade point average (p=0.02).Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, the majority of students had desirable spiritual health. Thus, it could be stated that spiritual health might leads to academic achievement, through motivation. Therefore, it is recommended that to improve students' academic performance, appropriate planning should be done for promotion of their spiritual health.

In bioremediation process, the phosphate-removing bacteria accumulate polyphosphate intracellularly and take it away from the environment. The objective of this study was to isolate and identify the bacteria which remove phosphate from industrial wastewater. Method: In this study, phosphate-removing bacteria were isolated from wastewaters of Aq Qlala industrial park of Golestan province. The isolates were identified based on the creation of clear zone in the bacterial lawn, leading to phosphate removal on the specific agar plate Seperb. Finally, the isolates were identified by macroscopical, microscopical, biochemical, and molecular methods. Findings: In total, 3 out of 30 isolates had high ability in phosphate removal regarding their large clear zone...
