fuel al... more The problems faced by Indonesia, recently, is a petroleumcrisis. Biodiesel is a renewable fuel alternative to using raw materials of oil vegetable or biological –one of them is waste cooking oil. The purpose of this study is to analyze potential trash banks in the procurement of waste cooking oil as raw material for bio-diesel in terms of aspects: public participation;the potential availability, included in the factors supporting and inhibiting the waste cooking oilavailability. The method uses a sociological-economic and qualitative-descriptive. This study uses a case study, Surolaras Trash Bank of Yogyakarta with a consideration of the waste cooking oilcollection. The collecting data and information through observation, in-depth interviews and FGD of the trash banks management, community, culinary entrepreneur, PKK , Apsari and JPSM. The results indicate that TrashSurolaras Bank was established on the community initiative; management is mostly done by the householdwomen; the potential availability of raw materials is large amount, can not be managed properly; lack of public awareness of the benefits of cooking oil waste management and its dangers; the waste banksexistence, socialization and understanding of the management contributing factors. Peanut brittle snacks of peanuts, soybeans and tempeh chips is promising as an alternative to bot... more Peanut brittle snacks of peanuts, soybeans and tempeh chips is promising as an alternative to both beneficiaries entrepreneurs.Priority issues: the increase in raw material prices; limited production capacity on processed manually, lack of obtaning a tempeh slicing workers; low quality control; packaging is not attractive; availablity PIRT license; lack of bookkeeping. Proposed Solution: the addition of tempeh slicer; gasolen generator.; hand sealer; Increase in raw material; training of quality control management, packaging, simple bookkeeping and processing PIRT. The method is business empowerment through training, mentoring, counseling, substance/ diffusion of science and technology. Target outputs achieved: quality products with symmetrical indicator, the level of dryness, color clarity, attractive and hygienic; PP plastic packaging 0.12 mm with a displaying label: the products advantages, ingredients, expiration date, PIRT and other information; and both partners carrying out bookkeeping. The volume of production and sales of both partners has increased and has a diversified product of pare chips. The impact of this activity is: 1). increasing the spirit of partners in running their business, 2). increased understanding of partners in managing the business, 3). the increasing number of employees. Abstrak Makanan ringan rempeyek kacang/kedelai dan keripik tempe cukup menjanjikan sebagai alternatif untuk memperoleh penghasilan. Kedua mitra adalah pengusaha keripik. Produk yang dihasilkan keripik tempe, rempeyek kacang/kedelai. Prioritas masalah kedua mitra sama yakni: kenaikan harga bahan baku, terbatasnya kapasitas produksi karena dikerjakan secara manual dan tenaga kerja pemotong tempe sulit didapatkan, kontrol kualitas rendah, kemasan tidak menarik, belum memiliki PIRT, belum melakukan pembukuan. Solusi yang diusulkan: penambahan mesin pemotong tempe, genset/generator, hand sealer; penambahan bahan baku; peningkatan kemam-puan manajemen berupa pelatihan pengendalian kualitas, pengemasan, pembukuan sederhana; pemrosesan PIRT. Metode yang digunakan berupa pemberdayaan usaha melalui pelatihan, pendampingan, konsultasi, substitusi Ipteks dan difusi ipteks.Target luaran dan hasil yang dicapai berupa produk berkualitas dengan indikator ukuran simetris, tingkat kekeringan, kejernihan warna, bentuk menarik dan lebih higienis; kemasan dengan plastik PP 0,12 mm dengan mencantumkan label yang menampilkan keunggulan produk, bahan, tanggal kadaluwarsa, PIRT dan informasi lainnya yang mendukung serta kedua mitra melaksanakan pembukuan. Hasil yang dicapai volume produksi dan penjualan kedua mitra mengalami peningkatan dan memiliki diversifikasi produk yaitu keripik pare.
