Some studies report no detrimental effects, others no association and others even positive or buffering effects. However, social media has rapidly evolved in a short span of time and so has people’s use of the platforms. Collecting an accurate measure of social media use and other methodological challenges particularly affect data in this area. In this commentary, we discuss two longitudinal studies to elaborate these contracting findings on social media and mental health.

Over the last ten years, social media has grown at an exponential rate, opening up formerly extraordinary channels for contact between individuals worldwide. Even while these websites deliver a number of advantages to users, some people are concerned that utilizing them might have a disadvantageous impact on users' mental health. It's been projected that using social media extremely raises the likelihood of developing depression and other mental health circumstances. The finding that there is a connection between the two variables gives credibility to this argument. The questions here bellow will be used to expound more on the topic
