One similarity is the extended pre-Christmas period, the last days of which (20-24 December) resemble Holy Week. The apogee of spiritual preparation is the vigil, at which a canon is sung that paraphrases the canon of the Holy Saturday Matins. This article is a translation of the canon with commentary.

The liturgical material of this celebration is also always sung on the eve of the consecration of each church during the all-night vigil. The texts from this service draw attention to the personal aspect of the renewal of each believer, and also say a lot about the importance of the temple in the spiritual life of the Church. They present it as a gift from God and a place of bloodless sacrifice.

One of the similarities is the extensive pre-Christmas period, the last days of which (December 20-24) resemble Holy Week. At matins, sticherions by St. Roman Melodos, with sublime content and its own solemn melody, are sung. The name of the whole cycle comes from the opening verse of the first song: „Angelic powers, now proceed”. The hymns introduce the faithful to the celebration of the Nativity of Christ and encourage them to consider the mystery in the light of dogmatic theology and spiritual life. This article is an analysis of the first twelve sticherions (from the first two days of the pre-Christmas period –December 20 and 21). The author proposed a Polish translation of each sticherion, and also commented on the texts.

Jednym z podobieństw jest rozbudowany okres przedświąteczny, którego ostatnie dni (20-24 grudnia) przypominają Wielki Tydzień. Na jutrzniach śpiewane są stichery autorstwa św. Romana Melodosa, o podniosłej treści i własnej uroczystej melodii. Nazwa całego cyklu pochodzi od wersu rozpoczynającego pierwszyutwór: „Anielskie moce, spieszcie”. Hymny wprowadzają wiernych wuroczystość Narodzenia Chrystusa i zachęcają do rozważania misterium w świetle teologii dogmatycznej oraz życia duchowego. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi analizę dwunastu pierwszych sticher (z dwóch pierwszych dni przedświęcia –20 i 21 grudnia).

During the service, The canon by St. Andrew of Crete is sung, in which the resurrection of Lazarus is praised as a prefiguration of the Resurrection of Christ. A particular theme of the work is a reflection on the two natures and two energies of Christ – divine and human. The Savior is presented as the one who asks where Lazarus is buried and who weeps over his grave, and at the same time as Almighty God who resurrects the dead.
Prezentowany artykuł omawia wybrane treści nauczania o Jezusie Chrystusie zawarte we wspomnianym dziele.

At the same time, it is very interesting from a liturgical point of view. The hymnography of the day of his remembrance, and especially of the Royal Hours of Christmas Eve, deals in a special way with the question of the doubts he had in connection with the pregnancy of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The liturgical texts also deal with the question of the age of Joseph, who is usually defined as an elder.
Hymnografia dnia jego pamięci, a zwłaszcza królewskich godzin wigilii Bożego Narodzenia, porusza w sposób szczególny temat wątpliwości, jakie miał on w związku z brzemiennością Najświętszej Marii.

The phrase of the thief hanging on the Cross sounds special on Good Friday-it is the day on which these words were spoken originally. Special troparions are added to the verses of the blessings, which talk about various aspects of Christ's passion, mainly through the prism of the thief's repentance. In the paper, the texts are analyzed taking into account the Greek original and selected translations.

The graphic representation is also connected with the content of liturgical rites. This article discusses the meaning of iconographic representations that are dynamically present at services – by carrying them from the presbitery to the middle of the church or carrying them around the temple in a procession (the icon of Christ the Bridegroom on Holy Monday, the icon of Christ crucified on Good Friday, the Epitaphios with a representation of Christ lying in the tomb on Good Friday and Holy Saturday). The text also discusses the relationship between the aforementioned icons and liturgical texts sung during the services.

Hymnography on that day touches many aspects - it presents the Orthodox Trinitarian Theology and Pneumatology. In the poetical way it also shows the event, which happened in the Cenacle. Present paper describes those liturgical texts sung and read during the festal Vespers and generally their influence on the liturgical life-there is, for example the illustrious prayer of St. Cosmas of Maiuma to the Holy Spirit "Βασιλεῦ οὐράνιε" among them. The paper draws attention on integral unity of three features - text, music and spiritual aspect - in hymnography.

Although the history of the monastery dates back to the 90s of the 15th century, the parish was created in 1800. In 1839, the monastic community returned to the Orthodox Church, after two hundred years of being under the "occupation" of the union. The outbreak of the First World War caused the evacuation of monks into the depths of Russia. In 1918, the Polish government took over church property. Parishioners were allowed to use only a small cemetery church-the care of the faithful was taken by by the Wasilków parish, from which in 1931 a branch parish of Supraśl was separated. During the Second World War, the Nazi army blown up the main monastery church. The postwar period is the time of struggles for regaining the church and buildings, as well as the constant development of parish life. In the early 1980s, Bishop of Białystok Sawa began to make efforts to revive the monastery. In 1984, Fr. Miron came to Supraśl and became the rector of the parish and the head of the monastery. Monastic life began to develop, and along with it, the spiritual life of parishioners deepened. In 1993, the state finally returned the monastery to the Orthodox Church. Currently, the Supraśl parish conducts its active activities outside the walls of the Monastery, which was evidenced e.g. by the consecration of the church in honor of St. Luke the Surgeon in the village Łaźnie in 2019.
Wybuch I Wojny Światowej spowodował ewakuację mnichów w głąb Rosji. W 1918 r. polski rząd przejął mienie cerkiewne. Parafianom pozwolono na użytkowanie jedynie małej cmentarnej świątyni-opiekę nad wiernymi sprawowała wasilkowska parafia, z której w 1931 r. wydzielono filialną supraską parafię. Podczas II Wojny Światowej hitlerowskie wojska wysadziły w powietrze główną monasterską cerkiew. Okres powojenny to czas walk o odzyskanie cerkwi i budynków, a także ciągłe rozwijanie życia parafialnego. Na początku lat 80-tych nowy ordynariusz diecezji białostocko-gdańskiej biskup Sawa zaczął czynić starania o odrodzenie Monasteru. W 1984 r. do Supraśla trafił o. Miron, który został proboszczem parafii i przełożonym Monasteru. Zaczęło się rozwijać życie monastyczne, a wraz z nim pogłębiło się duchowe życie parafian. W 1993 r. państwo ostatecznie przekazało Monaster Kościołowi Prawosławnemu. Obecnie supraska parafia prowadzi swoją aktywną działalność także poza murami Monasteru, czego ważnym dowodem było poświęcenie cerkwi ku czci św. Łukasza Chirurga we wsi Łaźnie w 2019 r.

The present paper discusses the presentation of holy children-martyrs in the Orthodox hymnography... more The present paper discusses the presentation of holy children-martyrs in the Orthodox hymnography. Eight leading themes that appear in liturgical texts are presented. Four of them are common to the motifs used in the rite of a child's funeral, and four others are reserved only for canonized children. The most attention was paid to the issue of childhood innocence and parents' reaction to premature death (from sadness, through joy of the child's salvation, to encouraging a child to suffer martyrdom for Christ). The presented examples come from the texts of services and Akathists in honor of selected holy children - mainly St. Gabriel of Zabłudów, St. Cyric and Julitta, St. Artemius of Verkola.
Zaprezentowane przykłady pochodzą z tekstów nabożeństw i akatystów ku czci wybranych świętych dzieci – głównie św. Gabriela Zabłudowskiego, świętych Cyryka i Julity, św. Artemiusza Werkolskiego.

It has a rich hymnography, including an additional rite of the Funeral of the Mother of God. The texts of the feast are largely inspired by the hymnography of the Holy Week, and especially Holy Saturday. This paper presents, on the example of the feast of the Dormition, a general phenomenon of intertextuality in hymnography. Mutual interpenetration of hymns appears in the context of many feasts and many saints.

w nabożeństwie i przeszły wielowiekową recepcję.
W książce poddano analizie wybrane hymny z Triodionu Postnego, m.in.: teotokiony antyfon jutrzni pasyjnej Wielkiego Piątku, dziewiątą pieśń kanonów jutrzni Wielkiego Piątku i jutrzni Wielkiej Soboty, kanon powieczerza Wielkiego Piątku „Płacz Bogurodzicy”, lamentacje jutrzni Wielkiej Soboty i inne wybrane pojedyncze utwory.
Pierwszy z nich stanowi liturgiczno-teologiczne omówienie Wielkiego Tygodnia w roku liturgicznym. Poza tłem historycznym formowania się tradycji kultycznej tychże dni i całej obrzędowości z nimi związanej szczególną uwagę skupiono na materiale hymnograficznym.
Drugi rozdział to wprowadzenie do prawosławnej mariologii.
i inne formy modlitewne.
Zaprezentowano recepcję tychże treści do hymnów Wielkiego Tygodnia.
Rozdział czwarty dotyczy obecności Bogurodzicy przy krzyżu, przy umierającym Chrystusie. W szczególny sposób podkreślono nadzieję na Zmartwychwstanie. Związany z czwartym rozdział piąty odnosi się do uczestnictwa Matki Bożej w chwale Zbawiciela. Omawia uwielbienie Bogurodzicy, jej świętość i orędowniczą moc.

Romana Melodosa, o podniosłej treści i własnej uroczystej melodii. Nazwa całego cyklu pochodzi od wersu rozpoczynającego pierwszyutwór: „Anielskie moce, spieszcie”. Hymny wprowadzają wiernych wuroczystość Narodzenia Chrystusa i zachęcają do rozważania misterium w świetle teologii dogmatycznej oraz życia duchowego. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi analizę dwunastu pierwszych sticher (z dwóch pierwszych dni przedświęcia –20 i 21 grudnia).
Hymnografia dnia jego pamięci, a zwłaszcza królewskich godzin wigilii Bożego Narodzenia, porusza w sposób szczególny temat wątpliwości, jakie miał on w związku z brzemiennością Najświętszej Marii.
center of the liturgical year. Each of the following days has its own specific meaning and extensive hymnographic material.
Wybuch I Wojny Światowej spowodował ewakuację mnichów w głąb Rosji. W 1918 r. polski rząd przejął mienie cerkiewne. Parafianom pozwolono na użytkowanie jedynie małej cmentarnej świątyni-opiekę nad wiernymi sprawowała wasilkowska parafia, z której w 1931 r. wydzielono filialną supraską parafię. Podczas II Wojny Światowej hitlerowskie wojska wysadziły w powietrze główną monasterską cerkiew. Okres powojenny to czas walk o odzyskanie cerkwi i budynków, a także ciągłe rozwijanie życia parafialnego. Na początku lat 80-tych nowy ordynariusz diecezji białostocko-gdańskiej biskup Sawa zaczął czynić starania o odrodzenie Monasteru. W 1984 r. do Supraśla trafił o. Miron, który został proboszczem parafii i przełożonym Monasteru. Zaczęło się rozwijać życie monastyczne, a wraz z nim pogłębiło się duchowe życie parafian. W 1993 r. państwo ostatecznie przekazało Monaster Kościołowi Prawosławnemu. Obecnie supraska parafia prowadzi swoją aktywną działalność także poza murami Monasteru, czego ważnym dowodem było poświęcenie cerkwi ku czci św. Łukasza Chirurga we wsi Łaźnie w 2019 r.
Zaprezentowane przykłady pochodzą z tekstów nabożeństw i akatystów ku czci wybranych świętych dzieci – głównie św. Gabriela Zabłudowskiego, świętych Cyryka i Julity, św. Artemiusza Werkolskiego.
w nabożeństwie i przeszły wielowiekową recepcję.
W książce poddano analizie wybrane hymny z Triodionu Postnego, m.in.: teotokiony antyfon jutrzni pasyjnej Wielkiego Piątku, dziewiątą pieśń kanonów jutrzni Wielkiego Piątku i jutrzni Wielkiej Soboty, kanon powieczerza Wielkiego Piątku „Płacz Bogurodzicy”, lamentacje jutrzni Wielkiej Soboty i inne wybrane pojedyncze utwory.
Pierwszy z nich stanowi liturgiczno-teologiczne omówienie Wielkiego Tygodnia w roku liturgicznym. Poza tłem historycznym formowania się tradycji kultycznej tychże dni i całej obrzędowości z nimi związanej szczególną uwagę skupiono na materiale hymnograficznym.
Drugi rozdział to wprowadzenie do prawosławnej mariologii.
i inne formy modlitewne.
Zaprezentowano recepcję tychże treści do hymnów Wielkiego Tygodnia.
Rozdział czwarty dotyczy obecności Bogurodzicy przy krzyżu, przy umierającym Chrystusie. W szczególny sposób podkreślono nadzieję na Zmartwychwstanie. Związany z czwartym rozdział piąty odnosi się do uczestnictwa Matki Bożej w chwale Zbawiciela. Omawia uwielbienie Bogurodzicy, jej świętość i orędowniczą moc.
