Manager's behavior with respect to business risk is observed mainly, along with other variables namely profitability, size of the firm and sales growth in this study. Data of motor and vehicle sector of Karachi Stock Exchange over the period of 2006-2010 is used for this study. Results of this study show that managers are risk averse, whereas size and profitability are positively related to the capital structure. Profitable firms follow the tax based models. Sales growth is negatively related to capital structure. Firms with high sales growth have the agency problem. the lending behavior of the managers of motor and vehicle Risk is a critical factor in the capital structure sector firms. Lenders can use the information of this study decision. So it is needed to determine the level of risk for lending the money to motor and vehicle sector firms. while selecting th...

This study provides the insights about the psychological process, which takes place behind the behavioural resistance of employees during the organizational change process. Self administered survey is used for gathering responses through a structured questionnaire from the 300 persons of banking sector organizations. Cognitive distortion is significantly affecting the emotions of the employees, which leads to increased behavioral resistance. Behavioral resistance is not significantly affecting the intention to quit which means that employees are resisting the change but not leaving the organization.

The concept of sustainability in building sector has not only put forth a challenge for builders but also the governing bodies that deals with the development of codes, guidelines and building standards. There is now a need to accrue all these standards and technology at one place in a framework which may help as a reference approach to design a wholly sustainable building. This study is based on review of literature where data from published articles, books and official websites of code developing authorities has been collected and investigated particular to the design of sustainable healthcare facilities. The output of this study is a comprehensive yet simple framework for the design of wholly sustainable...

This study theoretically asserts an argument about the mediating role of higher-order learning-based absorptive capability between learning orientation and market orientation for future research. Based on micro foundation of strategy and organizational learning theory, this study outlines a framework to conceptualize the emergence of generative learning-based market orientation from learning orientation through the higher-order learning-based absorptive capability to gain competitive advantage.

Field observations and petrography show the collected representative samples to be fine-grained meta-andesites (FMA), coarse-grained meta-andesites (CMA) and agglomerate (AG). The relationship between petrography and physico-mechanical properties has been investigated which inferred the grain size to be the major factor, alongside grains’ shape, arrangement and size distribution as well as degree of mineral alteration significantly affecting the mechanical behavior of rocks. The CMA yield more strength (98 MPa) than FMA (93 MPa) due to its lesser degree of mineral alteration, inequigranular texture, lack of preferred mineral alignment, relatively low porosity and water absorption. The lower strength of agglomerate (57 MPa) corresponds to abundanc...

Similarly, sugarcane bagasse ash is produced during the burning operation of sugarcane bagasse. Improper disposal of these waste materials poses a severe threat to the environment. The objective of this research study was to partially substitute cement with a binary mixture of SBA and MSP to reduce the environmental and health issues by adequately utilizing the waste material in the production of low-cost and eco-friendly concrete. For this purpose, a total of 174 concrete cylinders were tested. Apart from this, XRF and EDX tests were performed to determine the chemical composition of waste. Ordinary Portland cement was replaced with a binary mix of SBA and MSP from 0 to 40% by weight to achieve the synergistic effect. Various tests were performed, including compressive and splitting tensile strength and material tests, i.e. specific gravity, absorption capacity, sieve analysis, dry rodded u...

Here we report human Cyclophilin B as a receptor for PfRhopH3 during merozoite invasion. Localization and binding studies show that Cyclophilin B is present on the erythrocytes and binds strongly to merozoites. We demonstrate that PfRhopH3 binds to the RBCs and their treatment with Cyclosporin A prevents merozoite invasion. We also show a multi-protein complex involving Cyclophilin B and Basigin, as well as PfRhopH3 and PfRh5 that aids the invasion. Furthermore, we report identification of a de novo peptide CDP3 that binds Cyclophilin B and blocks invasion by up to 80%. Collectively, our data provide evidence of compounded interactions between host receptors and merozoite surface proteins and paves the way for developing peptide and small-molecules that inhibit the protein-protein interactions, individually or in toto, leading to abrog...

They also share a larger portion of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) has been rating healthcare buildings under a separate category of Building Design and Construction (BD + C): Healthcare to acknowledge their role and importance. This research investigates the credit points achieved by these buildings using all versions and rating systems of LEED BD + C: Healthcare. The results report a very small number of Platinum-certified buildings as compared to other certification levels. Further, Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution is applied on credit points and certification levels according to their rating system, climate and location to reveal that buildings require a lot more effort to raise their certification level from Gold to Platinum as compared to the effort required between Gold, Silver and Certif...
