Hence, exploring antecedents of organizational identification in organization settings within the construction industry is vital in understanding the role of organizational identification in performance outcomes. Organizational identification, which refers to an individual's psychological attachment to the organization, has gained increasing attention because of its assumed link with behavior associated with enhanced organizational performance. Yet little work has been done on what fosters organizational identification, particularly within the context of construction industry. The main aim of this study is to determine the relationships among organizational communication, selfconstrual, perceived external prestige, organizational communication, turnover intention and organizational identification within the context of Turkish Construction Industry. Sustainable development and construction is the responsibility not only of researchers, but also all stakeholders involved in the creation and use of the built environment. Despite increasing global awareness on environmental issues, creating a sustainable built environment seems not to be easy. This may be attributed to the gap between the possession of environmental knowledge and environmental awareness, and displaying pro-environmental behavior. It is epitomized by the attitude, “I know I should, but I don’t.”; exemplary, even replacing shorter automobile trips with walking or cycling may cause reduction on environmental impact, driving is the overall tendency of individuals. The characteristic of such an attitude, mindfulness, is ascribed to people who have a relatively greater awareness of the surroundings and of other people. Although mindfulness research has seen exponential growth in the last two decades, a limited number of studies has been adapted towards environmental purposes. This study aims to assess the link between mindfulness and sustainable behavior. In the study, a meta-analytical approach will be adopted, which assumes the conceptualization of mindfulness as a form of behavioral regulation, and the relationship between mindfulness and pro-environmental behavior.

These efforts need to be supported by all countries for permanent success. For this reason, universities, as multidisciplinary and multicultural platforms, are important for establishing international and multidisciplinary collaboration and move towards sustainability. This paper aims to analyze general tendencies, behaviors and consciousness about sustainability studies among universities’ students. With this aim, after providing informative classes about sustainability to a class of international and multidisciplinary students studying in different universities in various countries, students were asked to fill in the questionnaire and to participate in the brainstorming session about sustainability education and sustainable behavior. Findings revealed that the awareness about sustainability should be improved through education and that universities play an important role in the fight against climate chan...

To realize this goal, the research cluster focuses on developing a virtual representation of the construction site which involves all essential aspects, including models of the buildings under construction, the environmental boundary conditions, the construction procedure, the logistics processes, and the required resources. The resulting virtual construction site forms one the one hand the basis for simulating the construction process, which allows to identify critical aspects of the construction project in advance and to adapt the resources and the scheduling accordingly. On the other hand, the holistic virtual representation of the real construction site is used during the execution phase to capture all available information about the project – enabling site managers, con...

However, there remains a limited empirical understanding of organizational culture in the context of construction. This study examines the cultural profile of organizations operating in Turkish Construction Industry. The data reported are from 107 contracting and 27 architectural firms. In the study, Cameron and Quinn’s OCAI (Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument) was used to compare organizational cultures of the sampled firms. The findings show that the construction industry has been dominated by companies as clan and hierarchy type organizations. In addition, the analysis reported here indicates organizational culture differences in terms of firm type, size, and age.

In this study, we explored seasonal abundance of antimicrobial resistance genes and bacterial community composition in the water column of an intensive aquaculture pond stocked with Silver Carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) prophylactically treated with sulfamethoprim (25% sulfadiazine; 5% trimethoprim), relative to an adjacent unstocked reservoir. Bacterial community composition was monitored using high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA gene amplicons in eight sampling profiles to determine seasonal dynamics, representing principal stages in the fish fattening cycle. In tandem, qPCR was applied to assess relative abundance of selected antimicrobial resistance genes (sul1, sul2, dfrA1, tetA and blaTEM) and class-1 integrons (int1). Concomitantly, resistomes were extrapolated from shotgun metagenomes in...

The construction industry has a set of very specific and unique characteristics that demarcates it from all other sectors. This situation is related with strong precariousness and employee turnover, as well as the extensive practice of subcontracting. Furthermore, the construction sector, with its project-based production, is more vulnerable to voluntary turnover intention. Therefore, we aimed, in this study, to determine the key factors that contribute to the voluntary turnover intentions of qualified construction professionals. In this paper, the impact of individual-level value orientations on turnover intention in the construction settings, focusing on the mediating effect of external prestige and organizational identification, are investigated. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is employed to estimate the causal relationships betwee...

After implementing BIM in design and construction phases, developed countries now head towards utilization of BIM in facilities management (FM) processes. As ranking among the leading AEC industries, Turkey not only follows latest developments but also promises valuable potentials for both theoretical and practical improvement of BIM. Based on the studies published in BIM field, this study applies bibliometric review approach to analyze the state-of-the-art situation of the field in Turkey, and determine potential research areas, especially in BIM and FM intersection. Following the systematic literature search that aims to introduce current efforts of Turkish researchers in BIM field, the qualitative analysis categorizes these efforts according to life cyc...

Design/methodology/approach A questionnaire survey with a total of 95 respondents from both certified and noncertified office buildings was conducted. Two independent sample comparisons were executed to understand the influence of sustainable building certificates on occupants’ environmental values, beliefs, awareness and PEBs. Findings Ecocentric value, belief and awareness were found as the predictors of pro-environmental workplace behavior. Certified office occupants showed higher awareness about buildings’ environmentally oriented characteristics. Despite higher awareness, certified office occupants revealed less PEB compared to those who work in noncertified office buildings. Originality/value This study determined the influencing factors on PEBs in workpla...

Furthermore, psychological distress is often co-morbid with persistent pain. This study explored the relationship between persistent pain, psychological distress and emotional connectedness. It involved a cross-sectional design utilising an online survey of 388 Australian women with persistent pain. Self-report measures of pain severity, psychological distress and emotional connectedness were administered. Results confirmed that many women in persistent pain experience relationship and emotional connectedness difficulties which they attribute to the experience of persistent pain. Additionally, psychological distress significantly mediated the relationship between pain severity and emotional connectedness. It was concluded that, in this sample of persistent pain sufferers, pain severity an...
