Demonstrating the anti-inflammatory properties of extracellular vesicles derived from the microalga Tetraselmis chuii: in their latest work, Elia Di Schiavi, Antonella Bongiovanni at Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche and collaborators assessed the intrinsic biological properties of nanoalgosomes derived from marine microalgae Tetraselmis chuii cultures, using an optimised production protocol

They demonstrated that nanoalgosomes, a novel type of EV, are efficiently taken up by cells through clathrin-dependent endocytosis and possess significant anti-inflammatory properties.
