Even though this model is useful in estimation of the maximum internally recoverable heat recoverable in processing plants, it does not adequately represent the actual state properties of industrial processes. Specific heat capacities of fluids are polynomial functions of temperature of material under processing. The values of ∆Tmin also vary depending on the nature of the process stream under analysis. In this study, improvement to the heat balancing and energy targeting processes of pinch analysis was proposed. The study combined the use of stream specific values of ∆Tmin and polynomial temperature functions of specific heat capacities for heat targeting model. This was coded and executed using a PHP program. The model performance was tested using data from three thermochemical p...

Energy efficiency and conservation measures can be adopted to reduce the energy cost component of operational costs in such centers. In this paper, tips about saving of energy in shopping centers have been shared. The back of the hand approaches to conserving energy can be adopted by people who are not professionals in energy efficiency.

The paper presents an obvious graphical example showing the differences in meaning of the coefficient of determination, the error term , the dependent and the independent variables. The paper hopes to enable energy auditors understand how to relate the model to energy efficiency learning curve.

The academia develops the ground for intellectual growth of engineers, by teaching undergraduate students the basic engineering principles, which help them with continuous learning when they get out of universities. The industry, on the other hand, should rigorously engage graduate engineers in skills development. The university therefore teaches the knowledge, and the industry should teach the art of engineering.

There is potential for research but the lecturers have to venture out of classrooms and seize practical industrial problems. This way, they will increase their visibility and attract clients from the industry.

The paper elaborates on sticky points of selection of the time horizon, capital structure and discounting rates. It uses sensitivity analysis to demonstrate the effects of selecting the wrong time horizon and discounting rates. For each appraisal tool, this paper uses a calculated example to demonstrate its use. As well, the article demonstrates the use of spreadsheets in financial appraisal.
