The aim of current experiment is to assessment of genetic diversity and identification of promising recombinant inbred lines for irrigated and restricted irrigated conditions through PCA and cluster analysis. The drought selection indices viz. Relative drought index, yield stability index, drought resistance index, mean productivity, stress tolerance index and yield index were performed from two year grain yield pooled data. The principal component analysis and cluster analysis were performed through drought selection indices. Drought selection indices viz. relative drought index, yield stability index, yield index were confirm strong positively associated with grain yield under restricted irrigated conditions while mean productivity, stress tolerance index and yield index were strong positively associated with grain yield under irrigated conditions. Moreover, high cluster mean, for grain yield under restricted irrigated condition with associated selection indices was confirmed by 77 inbred lines from cluster I. similarly 128 superior inbred lines were found for irrigated condition. The highest inter cluster distance was observed between cluster I and cluster III therefore the inbred line occupy by cluster I and cluster III were considered as most diverse lines and could be used in farther breeding program to achieve more recombination for drought tolerance.

Two sets of triticale x wheat derivative lines were studiedTWD5 having 72 lines and TWD6 having 175 lines inclusive of the checks. For anther size, lines even better than triticale TL 2908 (the donor line) could be found. TWD5-24 showed 16.3% increase over TL 2908, followed by TWD5-17 (10.2%) and TWD5-44 (8.2%). In second set TWD6-87 (12%), TWD6-30 (11%) and TWD644 (8.2%) were lines showing good improvement in anther size. The best line that combines both good extrusion and anther size was TWD5-18 having anther extrusion score of 8.75 out of 10 and anther size of 5.4 mm. Thirteen lines were completely free from stripe rust in TWD5 whereas in TWD6, six lines showed high level of resistance. On the basis of shoot weight under micronutrient deficiency conditions, derivative lines TWD 6-22, TWD 6-31, TWD 5-69 and TWD 5-2 were found very promising for tolerance to micronutrient deficiency. On the basis of rye chromosome specific molecular marker analysis TWD5-29 carries 7R, TWD5-67 carries 5R. TWD6-64 carries 3R and 6R while TWD6-34 carries 2R, 3Rand 4R chromosomes. Chromosomal studies revealed pairing anomalies in some disomic lines (e,g, TWD 5-29) as well as presence of additional chromosomes (TWD 6-58). Fluoroscence in situ hybridization with rye genome specific probes indicated introgresssion (e.g., TWD 6-44 and TWD 5-46).

This study aimed to explore the variation and recognition of heat responsive traits, to enhance wheat productivity in high temperature stress condition. The recombinant inbred lines were developed by crossing of released wheat variety MACS2496 (heat sensitive) and WH730 (heat tolerant). The experiments were conducted into 2 years at three locations of two planting conditions (heat and terminal heat stress). Combined analysis of variance shows significant variations among all the studied traits at individual location, year and planting conditions. The phenological and yield component traits were highly influenced by environment under terminal heat stress condition. Days to heading and thousand kernel weight coupled with high heritability and high genetic advance per cent of mean in heat and terminal heat stress environments. In heat and terminal heat stress planting conditions, tiller number per plant, kernels per spike, kernel weight pe...

The objective was to inspect the stable wheat genotype for timely and late sown planting condition in central zone of India. For that total of 20 wheat genotypes, including two parents and three commercial checks, were tested across 6 (timely sown) + 4 (late sown) environments at Jabalpur, Narmadapuram, and Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh state of India in 2019-20 and 2021-21. The per plant yield and grain filling rate data were considered to perform univariate and multivariate stability analysis. Our result revealed that environment, genotype, and GEI effects were significant (P < 0.001) across all the environments and individual environmental conditions. The greater performing along with high stability for grain yield JW3288, L8 and L13 while for grain filling rate L11, L13 and L11 genotypes were identified in timely sown, late sown and across all the env...

Nine late sown genotype of bread wheat with their parents were evaluated in the year of 2017-18, using Randomized Block Design with four replications. Thus there was a high magnitude of genotypic variability for all the characters under study among the bread wheat genotypes. The value of phenotypic coefficients of variation was higher than genotypic coefficients of variation. The range for heritability was observed medium to high and the range for genetic advance as percent of mean was observed low to high. For days to heading and days to maturity moderate Heritability and low genetic advance as percent of mean was observed, high heritability with Low genetic advance as percent of mean observed for harvest index and biological yield, moderate heritability with Moderate genetic advance as percent of mean was observed for plant height, tiller per plant, spike length, grain yield per plant and biological yield, high heritability with moderate genetic advance as percent of mean was observed for test weight, high heritability with high genetic advance as percent of mean was observed for grain per spike. The overall genetic variability within the trait found to be low that indicated low chances of selection. Based on these result, we cannot reach to the final decision. But it can be used as a bench mark for further study. Therefore, it needs additional study over several years.

In the current study recombinant inbred lines were developed through a donor, WH 730 crossed with recipient MACS 2496. Further segregating generations were advanced through the single seed descent method at Karnal. The F 7 and F 8 generations of 231 recombinant inbred lines along with five checks were planted in Alpha Lattice design for screening under normal and restricted irrigated conditions. A significant yield reduction was observed under restricted irrigated conditions than the normal irrigated condition during cropping season 2019-20 & 2020-21. Under stress condition significant association was found among yield and selection indices viz., stress susceptibility index (SSI), tolerance index (TOL), mean productivity (MP), stress tolerance index (STI), yield index (YI), drought resistance index (DI), sensitivity drought index (SDI), relative drought index (RDI), yield stability index (YSI) and percentage of yield reduction (PR). Based on selection indices, 22 superior recombinant lines were identified. These selected recombinant inbred lines may be subjected to further evaluation and also incorporated as donor parents in future hybridization programs.
