We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Temporary Services department. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for three (3) Temporary Services Electrician J4 (1st shift), to work from 6:00 AM to 2:45 PM.
Shift : 6:00 am - 2:45 pm
Security Clearance : No Clearance
GUIDELINES FOR TEMPORARY SERVICES ELECTRICIAN
JOURNEYPERSON 4 (Temporary Services Electrician)
- Must have a superior understanding of electrical safety and good work practices.
- Must meet or exceed all Journeyperson Trade 3 requirements.
- Must have the ability to plan, organize and prioritize.
- Must have excellent personal skills working with others.
- Must be able to oversee a small group of people as a team.
- Must be able to conduct advanced training to J1-J3 Trade personnel in the execution of work.
- Must be proficient in the applicable NAVSEA Standard Items, OSHA standards, NSTM’s, and regulatory body regulations.
- Must be able to draft and submit required reports as required.
- Must be able to draft and submit Condition Found Reports.
- Must be proficient at reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
- Must be proficient at planning, laying-out and installing Temporary Service equipment and cabling IAW NSI.
- Must be proficient at the use of VOMs, Meggers, Amp and Phase rotation meters, etc. in-way of trouble-shooting, testing and circuit analysis.
- Must be proficient at building, maintaining, troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical problems to component level on Temporary Service Electrical equipment.
- Must be proficient in setting up Temporary Electrical Service Generators and Power Mods IAW all NASSCO and Government requirements.
- Must be proficient in adhering to the requirements of NAVSEA Standard Items 009-08, 009-28 and 009-74 on installation and maintaining of Temporary Services on board ship and on piers.
JOURNEYPERSON 3 (Temporary Services Electrician)
- Must have an excellent understanding of electrical safety and good work practices
- Must meet all Journeyperson Trade 2 requirements.
- Must be able to perform his/her job in the appropriate time frame without on-site supervision.
- Must have good personal skills working with others.
- Must be capable of guiding and training junior Temporary Service electricians with minimum supervision.
- Must know applicable NAVSEA Standard Item, OSHA standards, and regulatory body regulations.
- Must be able to collect viable information for required condition reports.
- Must be able to assist J-4 Trade in collection of information for Condition Found Reports.
- Must be able to identify defects in workmanship and the appropriate actions required to correct the defects
- Must be proficient at reading and interpreting schematics with minimum guidance of a supervisor or lead electrician.
- Must be capable of laying-out and installing Temporary Service Electrical equipment and cabling with minimum guidance of a supervisor or lead electrician.
- Must have a good fundamental understanding on how to use electrical test equipment in-way of trouble-shooting, testing and circuit analysis of Temporary Service Electrical equipment.
- Must have well-defined knowledge of building, maintaining, troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical problems to component level on Temporary Service Electrical equipment with minimum guidance of a supervisor or lead electrician.
- Must possess a fundamental understanding of setting up Temporary Electrical Service Generators and Power Mods IAW all NASSCO and Government requirements.
- Must have a working knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items 009-08, 009-28 and 009-74 and how each correlates to the installation and maintaining of Temporary Services on board ship and on piers.
- Must have an excellent knowledge on ship’s compartmental layout.
- Must have all necessary basic hand-tools on shop list to accomplish any task on hand and excellent knowledge on the correct use of each tool.
JOURNEYPERSON 2 (Temporary Services Electrician)
- Must have a good understanding of electrical safety and good work practices.
- Must meet all Journeyperson Trade 1 requirements
- Must be able to perform his/her job in the appropriate time frame with some supervision
- Must be able to provide guidance to J1Trade in the performance of their duties, when assigned
- Must be familiar with applicable NAVSEA Standard Items, OSHA standards, and regulatory body regulations
- Must possess a fundamental knowledge of reading and interpreting electrical schematics with guidance of a supervisor or lead electrician.
- Must be capable of laying-out and installing equipment and cabling with guidance of a supervisor or lead electrician.
- Must be capable of assisting in building, maintaining, troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical problems to component level of Temporary Service Electrical equipment with guidance of a supervisor or lead electrician.
- Must be capable to assist in setting up Temporary Electrical Service Generators and Power Mods IAW all NASSCO and Government requirements.
- Must have a basic understanding of NAVSEA Standard Items 009-08, 009-28 and 009-74 and how each correlates to the installation and maintaining of Temporary Services on board ship and on piers.
- Must have a working knowledge on ship’s compartmental layout.
- Must have all necessary hand-tools to accomplish any task on hand and satisfactory working knowledge on the correct use of each tool.
JOURNEYPERSON 1 (Temporary Services Electrician)
- Must be able to identify safety hazards.
- Must be able to read and understand a marine chemist certificate.
- Must be able to perform his/her job within the appropriate time frame with on-site supervision.
- Must be able to ensure the job site is left in a safe and clean condition prior to departure.
- Must be able to work in all locations where work is required, including but not limited to tanks, voids, cofferdams and elevated locations.
- Must be able to perform their job safely.
- Must know what Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to use and when.
- Must be able to navigate a ship and understand compartment designation.
- Must have Rapid Gate access or be eligible to obtain Rapid Gate access.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to understand, read and write proficiently in English.
- Must have an understanding of electrical safety and good work practices.
- Must be able to follow instructions from a supervisor and lead electricians.
- Must be able to install temporary services using correct wire and breaker sizes with guidance from a supervisor or lead electrician.
- Must know how to take care of tools and equipment used in the trade and have working knowledge on the correct use of each tool.
- Must have current WAF training.
