By conducting exploratory factor analysis (EFA), the number of dimensions and items was reduced. Through the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) using SPSS 21 software, nine predominant dimensions were confirmed, they are work environment, working condition, work–life balance, compensation, relationship and cooperation, stress at work, job satisfaction, career development and organization culture. Additional structural equation modeling (SEM) was done to determine the interrelationships between extracted nine components using AMOS. By performing different statistical tests l...

On the other hand employee retention is affected by so many factors that include internal and external factors. The present study is an attempt to know the parameters affect on the employee retention. For the current study through the well defined questionnaire data was collected. The data were analyzed through different statistical methods like Exploratory Factor analysis, Confirmatory factor analysis. Study reveals following six important dimensions affects on the employee retention such as Employee Development, Organizational Facilities, Supportive Organization Environment, Employee Benefits, Flexible Working Environment and Welfare Schemes. Z test was conducted to test the relationship between the dimensions it reveals all the six dimensions are associated with each other.

For this purpose lean tools are used as lean focus on continuous improvement and reduction of waste. VSM is used to serve the purpose of customer by eliminating the non-value added activities and help in value creation process with minimum lead time. The study was carried out on production process of pivot pins which are used in manufacturing of excavator machines of different specifications. By fixing production schedule and using a lean tool such as VSM, lead time was reduced which in turn reduces the cost of the product.

The investigation leads toward the formulation of the hypothesis and developing a conceptual framework of QMP and QWL.Design/methodology/approachThe study uses a systematic literature review to explore the relationship between QMP and QWL using the Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, Eric, IEEE Xplore, ScienceDirect, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and Google Scholar database and identifies critical factors of QMP and QWL using Pareto analysis. Further study proposes a conceptual framework of articles linking QMP and QWL.FindingsA thorough review of the literature identifies three different categories of research articles: “factor identification” articles, “QMP implementation” articles, “scale development” articles, and “influence of QMP on various organizational and employees-related factors” articles. Many studies have attempted to study the rela...

Predominantly in IT sector, where employees are considered to be the organization’s invaluable asset. The present research aims to examine the relationship between Emotional Intelligence (EI) and leadership styles. To fulfil the stated objective, data were collected through structured questionnaire; the instrument is validated using statistical techniques such as Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and reliability of instrument is measured to verify the credibility of the designed instrument. Goleman (2007) EI measuring scale and Kurt Lewin’s Leadership scale is adopted. Structural equation modelling (SEM) is carried out using AMOS to explore the relationship between the variables considered in the present study. With due consideration of average value of individual employee’s perception, it is noted that 53.8 percent of the sur...

Design/methodology/approach Survey methods were used for this study. A questionnaire was designed to collect the data and information, and it is validated through exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis. Findings The majority of employees are not satisfied with the present status of QWL in garment units. Followings are the predominant components, which influence the QWL of employees compensation and rewards; job security; grievance handling; work environment; training and development; job nature; satisfaction in job; facilities and relation and cooperation. Originality/value The study was conducted in 133 garment industries where sample responses were obtained from 851 workers working in Indian Garment industries. In the competitive business environment, retaining a talented workforce is one of the big chal...

To improve retention rate organizations need to consider human factors, while designing job. These human factors include Quality of Work Life and Employee Commitment. The present review paper addresses the factors associated with components of QWL and components of Employee Commitment. From the study is identified that employee commitment has three components they are Affective, Normative, Continuance commitment and QWL is a multidimensional construct it includes job satisfaction, adequate pay, work environment, organizational culture etc, these factors affects on the employee performance, productivity, absenteeism, retention rate etc. These QWL components may affect on the commitment of employees towards the organization, it may also enhance retention rate.

A large number of publications by various authors reflect the interest in this grey area. Reviews of literature on QWL have been done in the past by few authors. However, considering the contributions of QWL in the recent times, a more comprehensive review is attempted here. In this paper, the author has reviewed QWL components literature in a way that would help researchers, academicians and HR executives to take a closer look at the growth, development and applicability of these QWL components. The authors have examined various papers, and have proposed a new set of QWL components to measure the degree of QWL of employees in the changed scenario. They are Work environment, Job satisfaction, Opportunities For Growth And Advancement, Adequate and fair compensation, Emotional Intelligence, Organizational commitment, Organizational culture, Relationship a...

The design, optimization and analysis of thermoacoustic refrigerators using helium and air as oscillating gases are discussed. Pure helium is chosen since it is proven as the best and economical working gas compared to the alternate pure or the mixture of noble gases. Air is chosen since it is abundant in nature and the least cost of the pressurized dry air cylinders. The design optimization strategies discussed in this paper serve as a guide for aspiring researchers in the design and development of thermoacoustic coolers. Cooling power as a function of stack diameter is discussed. Theoretical results of the optimized coolers are compared with DeltaEC simulation results for validation and are in agreement with each other.
